I stayed at the Cosmopolit Hotel in June of 2006 and as someone who knows the city of Kharkov really well, I believe that it is the ONLY option for someone who takes the level of accommodations and service in the Western world's hotels for granted. I enjoyed my short stay there and if I ever go back to Kharkov, I will definitely choose this hotel again. That is not to say that it was perfect (nothing in Ukraine is); for one, I realized that it's name was Cosmopolit long after I checked out. This whole time I called it by the name of the restaurant adjacent to it "Da Vinchi." There was no name in front of the hotel's building! Here's the good now (it's all relative, of course, so let's compare): it has all the amenities you would expect from a solid 4-star US hotel, and the service you would expect only from boutique hotels, like Beverly Wilshire - you are treated like a king! Oh, and the "Da Vinchi" restaurant which serves breakfast to the hotel guests is terrific; the menu, the service, the taste - it is definitely better than in Spago of Beverly Hills! Sorry, Wolfgang!
