Just returned from Sibinek Croatia, after spending 2 weeks there.
Stayed at the Hotel Ivan on the solaris resort, we didnt actualy want to go here but as there was problems with room availability at the hotel we booked originally we picked here because it looked nice in the brouchures and looked suitable for kids.
The first day there my daughter fell in the pool , she didnt know there was a step in the pool as there were no warnings to say so, there were no warnings anywhere around the pool either and it was rather tatty looking too with tiles falling off, and poor lighting. It was unsafe and you would really have to keep your eyes open if you are travelling with very young children. there were drops off the sides with very sharp edges.
We were travelling with another family, there were 7 in our party,4 adults and 3 children aged 10 ,8 and 7.
Our room was basic and we had 2 single beds and a double sofa bed, when we went to get the sofa bed out it was broken and not suitable for sleeping on, we then had to try and get another room sorted out so we could get the children to bed, and at 9.30pm this is not what we all wanted to do.
we had asked for rooms close to our friends and was about 5 rooms away.
The staff were very freindly though ,but took ages to get any service, and after you did you would have been lucky to get another drink for about an hour, if at all.
The hotel inside was very clean and I would not fault that, it is a bit out dated on the outside and I think it needs to be modernised.
the pool area needs to have safety warnings around it and a couple of lifeguards would be a good thing as there are not any, when we asked our tour rep from airtours she didnt know of any life guards about the resort, which is terrible as the sea just drops before tour feet. we actually found 1 life guard, but he was in the bar.
The resort is beautiful but you are about 5 miles from Sibenik and you can only get there by the solaris bus which will cost you about 10 kuna each and its so cramped you cant move , the other option is taxi and this will cost you 100 kunas.
but Sibenik is beautiful and lots of lovely resturants and bars and lots of shops.
There is not much night life at the resort, they have a night bar that shuts at 2am and the other bars shut about 1am. if it rains they cancel the entertainment because most of it is held outside.
The food in the hotel is the same every night, but there is quite a bit of choice to choose from, but not much if your a vegetarian, which I am, so ended up witt the same meal every night.
there are other restuarant on the resort and again not much choice for me.
I wouldnt go back to the hotel Ivan or solaris, but I would definalty go back to Croatia its a beautiful country and there is so much to see and do.
We did have a good holiday just a shame we were so far out.
