“Great service, but...”

The hotel is well located at the end of the corniche but away from all the attractions. Definitely you need to hire a car or a driver to visit the city and that's we did. For a sheraton chain, this hotel is far away from our sheraton in the States in terme of design and everything, but the service was great and unusual, for those who experienced the Egyptian hotels you know what am talking about. The food was good but like always a lot of a bread and seemed to be the same during our stay. The staff was very friendly and answered all our inquiries. Finally for a short stay in Alexandria i will recommend it.

Lobby of the hotel looks like a dilapidated building in the Marcy Projects. After check-in I went up to my room to sleep. They gave me 2 beds instead of the king in requested. Each bed was about as wide as a balancing beam, a quarter of a turn in either direction and you're on the floor. The pillow felt like it was filled with sand instead of feathers but we make the best of it. Only problem was i had to wait 15 minutes to sleep because someone was showering and the walls are so thin and plumbing so bad, that it sounded like i was in a factory. Fine, i go to sleep 15 minutes later. As if that wasn't enough, at 4am, the person in the room next to me decided to put the TV on.... very LOUD. I woke to the sound of guns firing and a woman screaming at someone. I called the front desk to explain. They said they would investigate and call me back. After 10 minutes of sitting up in bed, i didn't hear back from them, so i called again. They said they called the room, but no one answered the phone. Thanks for the help. I suggested they excalate they said OK, and they'll call me back. Once again, 10 minutes later i heard nothing back so i called again they said they went up to the room and knocked on the door but no one answered....so they gave up. Great. I told them that wasnot a satisfactory answer. Again, they said they'd call me back after telling the manager. 10 minutes later and no call, again i call the front desk and asked to speak to the manager, they said he'd have to clal me back. he called me 5 minutes later and said the only thing he could do was move my room, so at 4:45AM i had to pack up and move rooms.

If EVERY other hotel in Alexandria is booked, sleep on a park bench. It'll be a much more pleasant night for you than staying at the Sheraton Montazah Motel.

“Shabby”

Sheraton Hotel Montazah

The hotel is at the far end of the Corniche, well away from most attractions. It is close to the beach and lovely gardens but fairly isolated.

The rooms were shabby and the concrete facade is cracking badly - didn't really want to put any weight on the balcony - or for anyone above us to do that either!

The food was fine and the sevice excellent - very good cocktails!

It needs a real re-furb and then will be OK

“Great service / Gorgeous views”

Sheraton Hotel Montazah

I stayed at the Sheraton Montazah in November 2006. My experience was fantastic. The service began from the moment I arrived at the hotel entrance via taxi. Bellmen swooped down, relieved me of luggage, escorted me to Guest Services, and promptly delivered a complimentary hibiscus tea. Check-in is intimate (seated at mahogany desk with manager on duty), seamless and delivered with graciousness and first-class service. My room had an amazing view of the Montazah Gardens/Palace entrance as well as the sea. Rooms are nice - but average Sheraton. I found mine to be modern with all conveniences, including comfortable bedding. Public areas of the Sheraton Montazah are in need of upgrading (read: dark wood/brass circa 1984). Breakfast buffet was included in my rate and was copius. Service throughout the hotel was top-notch. Every request was met with a smile and completed in a timely manner. I never felt the overwhelming pressure often found in Egypt for "baksheesh". The staff deserved all tips given; not once was I asked for anything other than a smile. One amazing aside was my afternoon spent in the hairsalon. Gentlemen, listen up! I was treated to a haircut, threading <not waxing>, a straight razor/hot towel shave, massage, and a facial that included three different masks. My total bill was approximately $40 USD. The salon needs an updating as well, but the service and the treatments are 5 star quality. The hotel is definitely a hike from many of the major sights. I found it to be a wonderful location in an upscale portion of Alexandria, beachside. I did not feel inconvenienced spending $5 for a taxi ride 20 minutes into the center (and that's without any haggling-it can be less expensive). It's a beautiful drive down the seaside Corniche. All in all, it is a nice hotel in a scenic setting. It is no Ritz, but the prices aren't either. Good choice for value on your money.

“Comfort and great service”

Sheraton Hotel Montazah

Difficult to go wrong with a Sheraton. Here, in Alex, having experienced some notional 5 star hotels in Egypt, I found the real thing. The rooms are fine. The new beds are hugely comfortable -I use the adjective accurately. There are large safety deposit boxes available (when you ask for one) -good for larger items such as DSLR cameras and portable hard drives. Mostly though, you pay for the service, which is exemplary!

The Chief Concierge and his staff are both thorough and good. Even superb. People make our stays. And this fellow IS superb! He actually cares!

Location can make a great hotel. Here, yes, the location is good. But it is the staff who make the place. They not only make you feel welcome -you are welcome. It is a great place to stay. Highly recommended.
