I would not reccommend this place to anyone western. The only reason I stayed here was under the recommendation of my 'saudi' friend. Its difficult to stay in a hotel as a lone female anyway especially in saudi but to stay in this hotel is most definately not recommended. The room service staff and domestic staff were lovely the reception staff were, shall I say slightly arrogant! The Hotel happened to host a saudi wedding everynight I was there so I sometimes did not get to sleep till around 4am as my room was opposite the wedding party!. I did complain but I am sure nothing was done about it.
I was also the target for arab men one of which knocked on my door at Half one in the morning and told me which room he was staying in! Needless to say I hid in my room with a chair wedged against the door! I was stared at whenever I entered reception and often hurriedly made my way to the lifts and to the saftey of my room! I was in an area where no one spoke english so getting a taxi was a hassel especially when my arabic was not top notch so I was often taken for a 'ride' by many of jeddahs dishonest taxi drivers. The food was overpriced in the hotel and terrible needless to say I lost a bit of weight whilst staying there and there were no takeaways near to hand except ones with a menu in arabic and men oggling me. Im sure this hotel suits the natives but not westerners or lone females. It was overpriced and grubby and in a not so western friendly area. I think I would of preferred a B&B by blackpool pleasure beach at least I know what to expect!
