We stayed at the Hilton Dubai Creek for 2 nights in March to celebrate my 40th birthday - we booked the executive plus room which made the stay even more of a pleasure. Firstly we were picked up in a limo from the airport, escourted straight through reception and up to the executive lounge on the 5th floor where we checked in. The staff in the executive lounge are very helpful and friendly, they really added to our stay here. Our room wasn't ready at 10am which is understandable (its normally free around 2pm in hotels) but they offered us a breakfast in the lounge which consisted of smoked salmon bagels, freshly baked muffins, cheese, cappucinos, which was brilliant after a long flight. They then came over to us and said our room was ready - only 11am!
We were well impressed. We then made our way to the room which was amazing - the biggest room I have ever stayed in, on the corner of the building with floor to ceiling window walls. I could lie on the huge bed (which had been sprinkled with petals!) and look out over Dubai, the view was tremendous, the best view I have ever had from my hotel bed.
There was fresh fruit and water in the room and the bathroom was amazing too. Black marble everywhere, big walk in shower, huge double jacuzzi set in black marble, fluffy robes, slippers, oil burner, even a rubber duck by the bath! The toiletries were Crabtree and Evelyn and there is also a CD player as well as the usual TV/DVD.
We ate at Gordon Ramsey's restaurant which was fabulous, great food, great service and not too pricey. We had 2 courses each, a nice bottle of plonk and the bill came to about £90, nowhere near as much I as I thought it would be.
We ate the 2nd night in the Glasshouse restaurant. Food was ok, service was pretty grotty. They right hand doesnt seem to know what the left hand is doing! We had to ask for butter 3 times to have with the bread, we asked for a bottle of wine, they said they didnt have that one, we asked for a different bottle of wine and they said they didnt have that one either?! 3rd time lucky though, we got the wine (although we had to pour it ourselves most of the time, not a big problem, but just one of those little things).
On our last day we were boarding the Costa Romantica ship for an 8 day cruise around the Emirates. Of course, we asked for an extended check out and they gave us until 2pm. We couldn't get on the boat until 7pm but it was no problem as we went down to the gym/beauty salon area and there are 2 seperate identical to our room marble bathrooms with fluffy towels, robes, Crabtree and Evelyn so we spent the day by the pool after we had checked out at 2pm and then freshened up in the gym bathrooms which are completely private and its all just for you. You lock the door and it is your own bathroom for as long as you need it.
Speaking of spa, I had a wonderful 2 hours body treatment with a scrub and massage - at first they said the therapist wouldnt be able to do it (we had pre booked the treatment)but once the hubby told them it was for my birthday they managed to get another therapist for me which was good.
The pool is quite small (as everyone keeps saying) but its clean and warm and has the best views of Dubai. There are about 20 sunbeds so at certain times of the year it might be a bit of a struggle but in March it was fine.
The hotel seems to be full of business men, no kids running around which is great. If you book the executive plus room you get to use the executive lounge whenever you want.
Throughout the day there is breakfast items, lunch and afternoon tea, all free and as much as you want. Also there are free drinks (beer, wine, spirits) between 6pm and 8.30pm which was great. We had an amazing time and would recommend a stay at this hotel strongly.
Its conveniently situated for getting to the shopping malls and the open top bus trip is also worth doing as you can get on and off the bus all day. You also get a free river cruise thrown in which is brilliant. Conceriege will help you to book this.
The jewellery and spice souks are good fun too, but a little mind blowing! There is a shuttle bus from the Dubai Creek to their sister hotel down by the beach, so if you want a beachy holiday then you can use that service.
We decided to stay in the luxury of the Dubai Creek Hotel though and use their fantastic pool and executive lounge facilities. I can't rave about this hotel enough!
