For only $75/night, this four star Best Western hotel was perfect for us. While it is a 5-10 walk to the start of the beachfront, the hotel is right by the subway line to go to Valpraiso. English was never a problem and the front desk staff were generally very helpful with suggestions and advice. They quickly changed our room when we asked for non-smoking and let us use the Internet for free. The rooms themselves were clean, but not fancy, but definitely worth the cost.

This is not a 4 star hotel. I had a cold when we arrived into our "suite". There was no kleenex. There is no kleenex in this hotel. Toilet paper is what is on offer here. This just isn't what I expect when I pay $150 US a night for a suite.

The trick to entering the room to to try it 8 times. First put in the credit card key then left then right very fast. The biddet was so dirty my wife wouldn't go near it. The toilet lid was falling off. The TV tiny. The bedspread not to be touched. The internet was free, but useless. Basic keys in the keyboard don't work. No english internet here - no adobe acrobat - nothing. Breakfast buffet was hopeless and dirty. Point out that there are no eggs left and the staff agree but do nothing. Point out that the coffee area is dirty and they shrug. This is a one star effort.

By the way, if you book online a 19% sales tax will be added to the price quote. Yet there is no such sales tax for foreigners in Chile. Where does this money go I wonder.

One last thing, this is not on the water, there is no view of the water, there is no marina. There is a busy road and a bus stop and a lot of noise. It stinks.

We stayed at the Marina Del Rey for 4 nights in early January. This is the prime tourist season in Vina so finding a room required some searching. We were glad to have found such a nice place to stay on such short notice. We arrived by bus from Santiago and were in Vina for several days without a car. The hotel is too far from the main bus station to walk there with luggage, so just grab one of the many cabs at the station.

The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The daily buffet breakfast is huge with several hot entries, fresh fruit, juices and coffees served in a large, attractive and sunny room. The hotel is 5-6 blocks inland from the ocean, but it is an easy walk down a main street. We walked nearly everywhere and did not feel uncomfortable walking in town even after our typically late Chilean dinner. The hotel has internet access so staying in touch by email was a breeze.

The rooms are on the small side, especially since there were 3 of us traveling together. However the baths were very clean with plenty of hot water. There is free on-site parking if you have a car, a nice bar for a quick pisco sour, and attractive common areas.

Other reviewers mentioned a problem with construction noise. The work must be done now. We didn't have a problem with that, but the hotel is on a major arterial so there is some traffic noise. All in all, a perfectly fine place to stay at a reasonable price.

Considering your choices in Vina del Mar, this was above average hotel. Otherwise its an normal Best Western hotel with free breakfast. Hotel staff was accomadating and friendly and speak a little english. No lock on safe in room. Location is good is central for touring around Vina/Valparaiso, but its about a 15 minute walk to the beach and you'll need to buy a $2 beach towel from a store as hotel doesn't give these out.
