“Very nice hotel but expensive”

Apsara Angkor Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Liverpool, United Kingdom
Jun 30, 2008

We spent the first few nights of our Honeymoon at this hotel and found the staff very friendly.
The hotel was in an excellent location for Angkor Wat and only a five minute drive in a Tuk Tuk to the local restaurants and bars.
The Hotel was very nice but the only downside was it was very expensive compared to other restaurants and bars in the town.

“Not bad, but not brilliant”

Apsara Angkor Hotel

Mar 16, 2008

This is promoted as a 4 star hotel, but generally I would say more a superior 3 star. It's very big, and comfortable, and has a really great pool (very necessary in March heat). The staff are, like all Cambodians, warm, friendly, helpful, but customer service skills are not that great, and their English was sometimes quite inadequate for even the simplest requests. And that even goes for the main reception desk, which did surprise me. Make sure you get a pool view room, as there is nothing more relaxing than sitting on the balcony gazing down through the palm trees and foliage. Also, the hotel (like many others) is too far out of town to walk, although that's no problem as a tuk-tuk driver will always appear out of nowhere to take you wherever you want to go. Sien Reap is great, full of action, bustling, buzzy, but not too big.

“Lovely Hotel, Perfect Location”

I've just returned from a 4 day stay at this hotel and found it to be absolutely lovely, the rooms are modern and decorated with teak wood, there's plenty of hanging/storage space, in room safe, TV mini bar, a great shower / bath and quiet efficient air con.. The staff were extremely helpful and smiled the whole day through. My room was spotlessly clean, with lovely crisp bed linen and towels, changed daily. The gardens around the pool are very pretty. There were alot of mosquitos about but the hotel staff made a huge effort to combat this leaving burners around and also spraying the rooms at night. The buffet breakfast catered for all nationalities, the hotel was very popular with Korean & Japanese guests during my stay. There are a few tuk tuk drivers immediately outside the hotel and I would recommend that you use these for getting around, it's cheap (a driver for the day is about $5 USD.) and the drivers are very friendly although resist their offers to take you'shopping' as they will deposit you at the 'tourist' shops. Unfortunately shop staff, follow any potential clients around the shop very closely muttering about discounts etc which I found very annoying when I just wanted to browse. I would recommend a trip to the night market, which is an interesting and relaxed place to be, there's a great bar at the rear. Also if you get chance visit Chong Khnea's floating village which is a real eye opener but the kids are a delight and will light up your day with their smiles. Go with a handful of sweets if you can. Siem Reap is a fascinating place, I wish I'd stayed longer.

“Excellent stay in Siem Reap”

We just returned from a wonderful stay in Siem Reap. The Apsara Holiday Hotel staff and accomodations made every evening comfortable. This is a higher end hotel and they can easily arrange for visits to the temples and other sites in the area. Food in the restaurant was excellent although it leans more western than authentic Cambodian.

No wireless or internet access was the only drawback but the rooms were 4 star quality and the facilities and staff made us feel like we were in a 5 star place.

“Great hotel, wonderful service”

A great hotel to stay whilst touring the Angkor temples. The air conditioned rooms were very comfortable and the service excellent. Everyone was very friendly and helpful - like Thailand + a bit.
The meals at the hotel were very good with a wide choice and well presented - they cater for hotel guests from many countries. Breakfasts ranged from fish porridge (looked but didn't try it) to standard US/UK fare.
Would highly recommend this hotel.
The person who rated this as terrible must be confusing it with somewhere else. This is a very acceptable 4 star hotel.
