“Worth the price”

Somadevi Angkor Hotel

Singapore

We booked it through Asiaroom.com and got the room at SGD53 per nite only. Very impressive room- new, clean, comfortable bed, balcony and pool view. The breakfast was good with a lot of choices. I think the location is acceptable though it is slightly further from old market and pubstreet. Anyway it is still within walking distance of 15 minutes. But then not many facilities in the hotel, only the pool and the gym is still under construction. It will be good if they have spa as well.

“Location, Pool Bar, Price, Buffet - all good!”

We booked the Somadevi through the Travel Agent in the FCC Phnom Penh. $37 for a Pool View Double, complete with balcony. Room had cold fridge, great A/C, comfy bed, clean and spacious bathroom.

Lobby service was great, rarely did I open a door myself, and the included buffet breakfast was fantastic. We rented a tuk-tuk for the day, went to Angkor for sunrise at 5, then back to the hotel for breakfast before heading back to the temples. Shouldn't cost more than $15 for the day (we let our guy go at 3pm - fair enough I reckon.)

Good location, we walked lots of places, but the tuk-tuk's are so cheap it doesn't really matter.

“Good lobby service”

I like the services provided at the lobby. The staff will carry your begs to your room.

The lobby staff will also give you a wet towel and soft drinks when you come back to the hotel after your visiting.

Nothing to comment about the room. Fair.

Not much to see outside the hotel.

“Good location, fair price”

The 4 star Somadevi Ankor is well located, easy walk to most of the good restaurants in town. The 5 stars places tend to be out of town. We paid US$90 for a "delux" room for two with breakfast (a good one, buffet). This is well below the posted rate but was arranged by out tour guide. He told us that the Guides association has some special deals in several hotels. The savings more than paid for the guides services. I recommend a room at the back of the hotel, overlooking the pool. That is a quiet location with a good view if a high floor.

Our guide, Saron, was truly outstanding. There are plenty of guides available but I can't imagine a better one. One of his happy customers set up his web site as a courtesy. Please see
http://www.sarontours.com/saron.htm You will not go wrong.

If you are interested, ask Saron to take you to one of the water well donated by foreigners. When you see how much benefit this can be to the people, you may be inclined to donate one as we did.

“Good Hotel for the Money”

Somadevi Angkor Hotel

Prospect, Kentucky

The property is still working out a few kinks here and there, but for the most part our stay was pleasant. Our room overlooked the pool area, which was very nice (although there was a great deal of viewable (and quite noticeable) construction going on next door during the day. The beds were undersized but, then again, I'm a 6-5 American in Cambodia...The service was excellent in and around the room and down at the hotel's dining hall. Breakfast and dinner were not bad. If you do stay here, do yourself a favor and take advantage of the foot massages at night. If I recall, correctly it was $15 American Dollars plus tip for almost a full body massage (even though they advertise it as just foot).

We had a private tour guide and shuttle, so I really have no idea how convenient the location is or the cost for getting around Siem Reap. Regardless of how you travel to Angkor Wat, it's a straight shot from the hotel, into Siem Reap's center, and then on to the ruins.

Drinks at the bar closes to the pool entrance were very reasonably priced (like everything else in the country), with an assortment of beers on draft (including Tiger) and several premium spirits. Make sure you bring American Dollars. You can use the local currency, but it's much easier to get around and pay with greenbacks.
