When we arrived, we were checked into a room that was not very clean. We found a sock and a half bottle of water in the room as well as a very un-clean bathroom. I will spare you any details on this. The hotel day staff seemed to make a honest effort to find us another room, but in the end, we elected to stay in the same room with housekeeping to do a re-clean.

The wireless Internet service that they advertised was almost non-existent in our room which caused problems with my travelling companion getting some much needed work done. Each night, it would go down completely and the staff was both unwilling and unable to do anything about it.

The food was fair at best and the service in the restaurant was very poor.

Overall, I would encourage others to seek other alternatives when in the area as I plan to do in the future.

We were very disappointed with the Hotel Isla Rey Jorge. The room was very tiny, the room definitely was not clean. The ground floor rooms look out onto a parking lot, the manner in which the windows open doesn't afford one a sense of security as it seems anybody could just climb in and steal a laptop, we were reluctant to keep the windows open.

The internet is very poor. The hotel says they have wireless but they don't really have anything that works more than ten feet from their one old PC. The staff isn't very helpful, some don't speak any English, one asked a guest to translate that basically it isn't her problem.

The service in the restaurant is anything but "service" as you need to go into the other room and tear the waiter away from the television if you need something from the kitchen. We visited some of the other hotels in the area and were disappointed we hadn't stayed at one of the others, this hotel was marginal at best.

We were very disappointed with the Isla Rey Jorge. There are much nicer, and much better values to be had in Punta Arenas.

we were staying briefly in Punta Arenas, coming from Antartica. having really loved Ushuaia, we had higher expectations of PA. further, the hotel double-booked our room leaving us in the lobby waiting for our pre-paid room from a previous night! in other words, they were paid twice for one room and had no problem with that.

in any case, the rooms are no nicer than any average chain hotel in the US, the property is not in good condition either. better luck somewhere else.
