We travel internationally quite a bit due to business and can provide a candid review on this location for those interested in staying there:
1. the standard room is a great deal if you are on a very strict budget- it faces a parking lot, and is small. it is not reccommended, we upgraded to the sea facing room-
2. The building layout for tower a and b sea facing rooms allow the other rooms from B&C tower to "look into" your room- the best privacy is offered in Tower C-
3. The extra price for a balcony room is not quite worth the money, as the outsied ait temp is quite warm- you want to keep the door closed at all times to keep the room cool- the rooms are very small, and offer no door to the bathroom for privacy, rather a shower curtain to pull closed.
4. While this hotel is rated 5 star by the China tourist board, it is not an independant rating. The 5 star hotels are located in Younlong Bay (sp?) the Mairiotts and Crown Plazas ect. This hotel is compared to a 3 star in the US and North Americas, with good "decent " service- It allows you to take you budget and spend it in other areas , as opposed to lodging....HOWEVER-
A STRONG WORD OF CAUTION for those traveling with children or couples on this hotel- The hotel knowingly runs a "spa" on their lower level. They offer "massage" for 80RMB, and when my husband would walk alone he would be propositioned by the staff of the spa for sexual offerings including intercourse for 800rmb. This is common place at this hotel. Once reported to the hotel management, they were not shocked, rather this seemed to be a normal approach to a "service" offered to their male guests. In my opinion,it is an insult to guest and couples who come to a resort to enjoy their time together, to be subjected to this type of behaviour.
