“Do not stay here”

Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino

We have returned from a four night stay and we would not recommend this property for an enjoyable vacation. We arrived at 5:30 PM after a 9 hour drive and our room was not ready until 7:30 PM. I requested a renovated room (as I had read the comments about the property) and was assured the room was one of the refurbished rooms. It was not as the carpet was dirty throughout the hotel and the room had peeling wallpaper and a disgusting bathtub with the light fixture hanging down, bathmat disgustingly dirty (it would cost $3.00 to replace) and the bathtub peeling. Not the most pleasant environment.
The pool area is a joke.
The casino was also unpleasant as it was not cleaned regularly and you would sit at a machine and have empty drinks and overflowing ashtrays. The casino waitress's were not the most pleasant as I heard one yell at someone trying to order a drink (thank god it wasn't me).
The restaurants were expensive. The Cafe 24 was a pleasant experience as the staff were friendly and helpful.
Upon check-out I voiced my concerns and was informed that my complaints were common.
I think that walking into the hotel you think that it is nice and over the top, but it is an illusion and when you enter the elevators the true character of the hotel comes out.
Good Luck

“Would not stay again...”

Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino

I just got back from the Trump Plaza and am very disappointed. I told the check in person it was my daughter's b'day and asked if we could have a nice rm. She could have cared less. They couldn't find my reservation because although they received it, the reservation had not been entered into the computer. I had reserved the room online. The rm was very dark, furnishings and carpet old. The counter top in the bathrm was peeling. I returned to the front desk to ask for a renovated rm. I was told the rm was renovated, when I asked when, I was told they were renovating rm by rm and floor by floor and the rm that was given me was the best rm available.

When we walked into the casino the age of the guests were not mixed but almost all seniors. The casino was dark and dull and lifeless. The restaurants expensive. One saving grace is Ceasars is next door. My daughter and I walked over and found life in their casino. The next day we went to the Tropicana for the Blue Mercury Spa for massages, which was wonderful. We found many restaurants, shops, an IMAX theater, and had a ball at the casino. The Tropicana was alive with people of all ages. I can't say how their hotel rms are but everything else was great.

Trump International Hotel in Miami is fantastic but don't expect the same quality in A/C.

“Not Impressed !”

I visit A.City quite frequently. Trump Plaza was always my main casino to play at and stay. (I take advantage of my comp. rooms). Anyway... this past visit may be my last for awhile. Upon check in, I waited in line for 45 min. because there was only 1 person behind the counter doing check-in's. Unreal! I normally ask for a room in the East Tower. There weren't any available (so I was told), and we were given a room in the Main tower. I have never seen such a creepy hotel room in my life. We were put up on the 17th floor. Our room looked like a converted closet of some-kind. Very small, very dark - not inviting. I've stayed in many other rooms at this casino and this by far was the worst! There was mold atop the wallpaper, in the bathroom tub, and near our big window. The shower curtain was stuck fast together. Looked like it hadn't been moved in years! When I tried to pull it apart it tore! Had no towel, had to call the front desk! And the bed was like sleeping on a tabletop- hard as a rock! I went to the front desk and asked to be moved. They informed me that they are only allowed so many comp. rooms per day, and they were all full and I couldn't be moved to another room. I don't know what the deal was with this room, but I certainly was not impressed. Voicing my opinion to the staff didn't help much, except get us breakfast comps. Big Deal! I will be staying elsewhere on my next few visit to A.City. (next door at Caesar's). I sure hope they renovate some of these rooms that are an eyesore with the $$$$ Donald gets from selling Trump Marina :)

“Loved it - no complaints”

Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino

I was nervous about staying at the Trump Plaza after I read some of the reviews but I have no complaints. The room was very nice with a great view and exceptionally clean. Everyone from the front desk to the bell hop to the valet was very nice and helpful. They didn't even charge us as much as was quoted. How about that. We really weren't that impressed with the casino - but all of the casinos seem to be the same. We will definitely stay there again. The location is great.

“Many problems - can't recommend”

Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino

This was my first stay at the Trump Plaza, and it was a bad experience overall. We were first checked into a very small room in the main building with a partially obstructed view of the beach. The bed mattress was uncomfortably soft (actually made my back hurt), the room had only one power outlet, and the air conditioner didn't work. I called for maintenance to fix the air conditioner at 10pm that evening, after waiting 45 minutes without maintenance arriving I called back, waited another 45 minutes and called again. Maintenance finally showed up around 1 pm. The maintenance guy told me that the air conditioners work by using a motion sensor. The motion sensor turns off the air conditioner when it senses no motion, unfortunately, that means that when you lie down on the bed, the air conditioner cuts off. What a great feature! Saves money, makes guests miserable. The maintenance man said he adjusted the "VIP" setting for us, lol. The air conditioner still didn't work after his "VIP" adjustment. After reporting all the problems to the front desk manager the next morning, we were upgraded at no additional charge to a small suite in the East Tower. The air conditioning worked well. The bed was a vast improvement, much firmer mattress and more comfortable. Once we were settled in this room, I decided to try the Internet service. I was aware of the exorbitant $12.99 per day Internet service fee, slightly annoyed at that, plus the fact they the hotel didn't provide wireless (free or paid) Internet access. After a laborious signup process, I was able to log on. After just 5 minutes, I began losing my connection intermittently. This continued for another few minutes. I called the front desk which connected me to the Internet provider's support line. After explaining my issue, the technician said he would reboot the modem remotely. He did so and then asked me to try browsing the web again. The connection continued to fail. I then requested a refund and cancelled the service. Sometime later I discovered a Starbucks tucked away in the farthest corner of the lobby level. This Starbucks provides FREE wireless Internet access. The next day I decided to inquire further with the hotel staff about this. I spoke with a hotel operator and asked her if there was any free wireless access in the hotel, and she told me that there was none. Amazing! Don't pay for the $12.99 Internet service when you can go to the Starbucks in the lobby and use their wireless AP for FREE! = $0 dollars. Friendly and competent members of the hotel staff include the bellmen, the housekeepers and the efficient and quick valet service. Front desk personnel seemed cool and distant, not particularly friendly. Not many smiles from that bunch for sure. My review of the casino: My first pull on a slot machine didn't register and I lost my first play. I asked a casino employee to refund me due to a malfunctioning machine and they refused. They eventually changed their mind after I persisted and they refunded me, but not without a fight. During my stay here I noticed countless slot machines with "out of order" signs. Not a good sign. On more than one occasion, drink hostesses passed me by without offering me a drink while they would offer the person sitting next to me a drink. And there weren't too many drink hostesses to begin with. The friendliest and most helpful bunch in the casino was definitely the security personnel. Always available to answer any question and give directions. We did notice some seedy looking people in and around the casino, however, overall, the security in the hotel/casino was very good. The hotel/casino is in a very good location, right on the boardwalk, and close to tourist shops, food, etc. However, based upon my complete experience, I cannot recommend the Trump Plaza.
