Myself and my boyfriend stayed at the Marriott for a week last August. We had already done a four day Nile Cruise(fantastic experience) and had spent three days in Cairo(where we contracted severe food poisoning). Needless to say, we were delighted to get out of Cairo and arrive in Hurghada.
From the moment we arrived at the Marriott, until the moment we left, we had the most fantastic time. The reception staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the reception and lobby area itself was gorgeous. Very bright with high ceilings and beautiful decor. Our room was very comfortable, the bed was the best I had ever slept in. The view from the room was breathtaking, it was like a picture postcard. The staff in the hotel were lovely, and were not pushy or constantly asking for 'baksheesh' unlike staff I had come across in other Egyptian hotels. Everywhere we went in the hotel we were greeted with smiles. The Italian restaurant was lovely, we ate outside by the beach, which was lovely at night, and the food was divine.
The main restaurant was great for breakfast, with just about every foor you could imagine, and there were always plenty of tables available. We never ate there at night however, as it was buffet and we had had enough of that on the Nile Cruise.
The beach on the hotel and the private island was great, there were always sun loungers available and the water was clean and very refreshing.
We went on a snorkellig trip organised by the hotel, to the Giftun Islands, which was quite cheap and very enjoyable. We also went quad biking which reception organised for us and that was great fun.
All in all, the hotel was fantastic and so relaxing. The night life there wasnt exactly great, but it would suit a family. We ventured into Hurghada town a few times and found it quite dirty and tacky. The restaurants in the town were generally awful and the bars werent much better, although we found one or two nice bars such as Hedkandi Beach bar which was pretty cool, and Papas Beach Bar was also good.
I would reccommend the Marriott to anyone, especially for those looking for a relaxing holiday, and I will definitely return again, although this year I am going to try El Gouna and see how that compares
