My first trip to Egypt, the first I hope of many. This was my birthday present, I turned 43 half way through the week. The staff at the hotel could not have done more for us, the two rooms we had were kept immaculately clean, towels and bedding changed daily with beautiful towel 'statuettes' left and the bathrooms spotless and fresh. There was a knack to using the shower but once explained, it was fine.
On my birthday they made orchids, with towels and decorated them with hundreds of rose petals, even spelling out 'Happy Birthday'. On the evening they laid on a suprise party, with a cake and candles all at no extra cost and sang happy birthday to me in Egyptian then English.
As a family we made lots of friends during our holiday, most of them were the staff at Waves, to me this was the best holiday of my life where I met the nicest people ever.
The beach was nice, private and part of the hotel, kept clean by the staff the water fantastic. The pools were constantly checked and maintained.
Daytime entertainment was basic however the night stuff was really good.
We went AI which was great value for money, drinks non-stop, we took bottled water (free) back to our room and kept it icy cold in the fridge for when we went out and for overnight.
Advice: keep the kids suncreamed, with hats and drink lots and lots of water and you'll be fine.
My adult son and teenage daughter went diving, they had a great time and were well taken care of.
We were close to everything really, the town, beach, airport and life!
Tipping is standard, most Egyptians live well below any poverty line we recognise yet they are proud respectable people, honest and very, very hardworking, genuine and kind!
The gardeners worked so hard to maintain the gardens, watering and weeding all the time. Every week the staff sprayed outdoors, and we did not see a single bug, fly or mosquito in the hotel or the hotel grounds.
The food was Egyptian based and delicious, they try to keep everyone happy by including English and Russian choices, but for goodness sake be realistic, why go to a foreign country if you don't like foreign food or foreigners? I would go again and again and again - I didn't want to leave. I have never been anywhere where you felt so welcome.
Most of the staff knew us by name and were wonderful to our kids and to us, all different ages too. We had family come visit us at the hotel and they loved it.
There was so much more to see and do! If anyone from Waves gets to read this, THANK YOU, CAN'T WAIT TO COME BACK!
