Domina Coral Bay Prestige Hotel

Having returned from 2 weeks at Domina Coral Bay I must say that we had originally booked for The Sutans Pool but I had telephoned them a few days before when I realized it was on a very steep hill and due to my walking disabilty I was a bit concerned. Also it was my husbands 60th, our wedding anniversary and my birthday the day we flew home and I did not want it spoiled by having to be confined to one place.
When we arrived we were given a room upgrade ( not package ) to the Prestige. What a wonderful surprize. The room was spacious, drapes round the bed, tea, coffee making facilities, large shower with jets ( some of the larger rooms had jaqusie baths ), spacious balcony with lattice shutters.
The pool which was just outside our room was magnificent and never packed with people, wonderful sun beds, padded and fresh towels everytime you left your sun bed and came back. Thanks to Fouzie the lifeguard, he was superb.
The only downfall was that although the room guys were very nice and did a wonderful display on the bed for our anniversary, the room could have been a bit cleaner, we also had to ask for more coffee and tea frequently
Sounds strange but a pair of my husbands trousers went missing from the room also my ipod. First thing you think of is did I really have them in the first place, till you get home and they are not in the house.
USE THE SAFE.
The complex is that big you use Taff Taffs (little buses) to get round and are very frequent. I would think in high season though you would have a job getting on them. Prestige provides golf carts that will take you where you want to go. To hire them it is 17euro per day..
As we were all inclusive we were limited for eating to 4 eating places. Much of the sameness after a few days. Wine and beer with meals or other drinks at the Wadi at the beach. 1 bar at night, yes 1 bar. That was at the Sultan. It has about 15 tables out and10 in. That closes 12 Domina time ( dont ask ) its actually 11pm in normal time....... They tell you Domina time is 1 hour ahead of Cairo because to get more sun in the morning. RUBBISH. its because 80 per cent of guests are Russian and they dont have to change their watches. Drinks at other bars VERY expensive. Vodka and coke 15GBP

By your cigs and tobacco at the airport. Stuff in Naama Bay is either fake or dried up. Its only about 1 BP more. Before you get in a taxi make sure you get a price in EGYPTIAN pounds. If you dont specify they will get you to the other end and tell you no it is in British. Some of them get quite nasty and although we didnt experiance it we heard of people being left in the middle of nowhere because of it.

The staff in Domina we found to be very pleasant and some went out of there way to make you welcome and expected nothing in return. Trips we found were quite expensive if you wanted to go further a-feild. In Naama Bay a trip to Jordan for 1 day. 170 GBP. plus visas for Jordan plus Visas to get back into Egypt ( even if you already purchased them at the start of your holiday ).

Dont even think of taking the coach trip to Cairo. It takes 6-8 hours to get there, flying visit, then the same back.. All in one day.

It is not recomended for the frail, old or infirm.

“Qality hotel and resort”

Domina Coral Bay Prestige Hotel

Have just returned from a week at this great hotel. We went last year after recommendation and again this year was very pleased with the holiday.

If going to Domina Coral Bay, then I would see if you can afford to upgrade to the Prestige. We book ours through Octopus travel but independant companies like Harvey World travel will also do it for you.

The rooms are very well appointed and are largeand all have either a sea view or pool view, either are acceptable. There is two pools associated with the Prestige. The Plasirs restaurant is of a high quality and the food at breakfast is fantastic with a choice of cereal through to pastries and hot freshly cooked items such as pancakes and omelets.

Currently there are few Brits who go here and you will find mainly Italians and Russians who use this hotel.

There is no need to take towels as they provide them both for the pools and the Prestige beach which is only accessable to clients of the hotel.

Domian Coral Bay has a number of hotels within the complex and a variety of restaurants you can use also. There is evening entertainment of a high standard via a permanent dance troop performing a different act each night.

There is a casino and a Suk with many shops in it.

We found all staff helpful and the excellent golf carts that you can take to get around the complex are really useful.

If you are looking for a good quality hotel that is in fact reasonable with excellent facilities then this is recommended.

For someone who rarely goes to the same resort or hotels more than once to have gone back for a second year running is an endorsement in its self.

A wonderful hotel, we have visited evey year for the last 6 years.
Wonderful weather
Beautiful clear Red Sea, coral and lots of pretty fish
Large resort - you never need to step outside so security is excellent
Wonderful food - Top class Plaisirs restaurant as well as about 10 others on resort
Only downside - alcohol expensive - Egyptian wine £20+ a bottle

Resort has own bus services (3) and residents of Prestige have use of golf buggy and driver
Shops and souk
Visitors to Prestige can use the spa area - treatments extra

Organic farm on site, you can visit
Prestige will send taxi to airport for you - cost 12 euro each way
Best of all the staff are so friendly and welcoming - after 6 years they are old friends

“Big, beautiful, and friendly”

Domina Coral Bay Prestige Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Oxfordshire

Domina was the biggest resort I have ever stayed at, and I loved it!
Lots of choice, beautiful buildings, great accommodation, and great food.
It felt very secure with lots of security, transport to, and around the complex was plentiful and easy.... little "Taff Taff" buses take you around the resort.
There are different areas of the resort that you can stay at with different themes. We stayed in the Sultan, which suited very well for a young couple. There were more expensive, family orientated, or luxury areas which gives you great choice and I'd love to go again and try out the Salt Lake or Harlem areas.
The only downsides were the mosquitos- I've never been bitten before, but they really were a problem on this trip for me, and for several other ladies I met so I would advise caution there.
If you go you have to try the snorkelling! It was a bit daunting at first, but amazing and well worth trying!

“Not that good!”

Domina Coral Bay Prestige Hotel

Arrived at the airport and the taxi that we booked with the hotel did not show up. However we got to the hotel which is on a massive resort. Room was nice, staff are very friendly. The double bed was actually two singles with mattress turned crossway's, very poor.

No information supplied in the room as to what services were available, room service information etc. etc. Things that you would expect at a Blackpool boarding house!

The Prestige claims to have a private beach and two heated swimming pools, it does have a private beach which is a five minute walk down the hill, not so good for the elderly unless you make use of the free golf cart service. It does have two pools but not heated!

The private beach is next to the departure point for the diving boats and the boats have little concern for those snorkeling off the walkway its an accident waiting to happen.

We paid the half board supplement which gives access to 9 restaurants, avoid the Nautilus, the steak grill, the piazza and the kebab house. The steak grill and the piazza were the pits! However Plaisers restaurant was exceptional both for evening meal and breakfast and again the staff were exceptional. Most other places the staff were friendly just the food quality was poor which was a shame because they really promote their organic farm and use of organic vegetables.

The worst part was checkout which took 40 minutes! When we booked via internet the room rate was 120 euros a night, we paid in full on arrival however on checkout we were charged extra for the last 4 nights because of currency fluctuation!!

Not the 5 star experience we expected, resort is overall about a 3 star. Food 3 star (Plaisers restaurant 4+ star) the Prestige hotel 3 star. The staff overall are very hard working and pleasant and make the resort a better place than it is.

We went for a fortnight and would probably not go back unless a cheap deal came up for some winter sun.
