We are a couple that travelled independently for three weeks, primarily in Rajasthan.

We stayed in Udaipur for three days and thoroughly enjoyed ourseves. It is a city that is doing a good job in terms of cleanliness. There are lots of shops and restauraunts and we did not feel hassled at all.

The hotel lived up to its reviews. The room was spotless and nicely decorated. The rooms are quite small and I do not recall any closets. The bathroom was also small and a shower pretty well covered the whole bathroom.

The manager was very helpful. We only hasd breakfast there and it was fine. Generally, we found that we were by ourselves although the hotel was full. The rooftop patio provided great views and a good place for a cool beer.

The son of the owner runs a travel place next door and services seemed fairly priced.

Overall, a good choice that is highly recommended.

“Pleasant Stay at Mewar Haveli”

I stayed for 2 nights at Mewar Haveli, paying $33.50 per night including taxes for a standard room with AC. The Mewar Haveli is a fairly new hotel at Lal Ghat, with good lake views from many rooms and from the rooftop restaurant. It is clean with friendly and obliging staff. Location is excellent with good restaurants and shopping moments away by walking. The hotel also has an inexpensive rooftop restaurant and terrace with views of the Lake Palace. Right next door there is an excellent used book store and internet facility that is owned by the hotel. The surrounding streets are narrow, but insist that your taxi takes you right to the door of the hotel - they can navigate the streets but may be reluctant to do so.

Most positive things said in reviews here are true. Helpful and polite staff, who responded to requests and dispensed useful advice promptly. I believe they even help me bargain for a good deal on a painting. The view was nice and the room was neatly decorated.

Food could need improvement though, particularly for meat lovers like me.

“Fantastic Hotel, Excellent VFM, Helpful Owner”

Mewar Haveli

I booked 2 nights / 2 rooms for me and my wife and another couple travelling together. I looked up the review of Mewar Haveli at Tripadvisor a month back and decided to book here & was it worth it !!

I arrived in Udaipur 2 days before schedule and wanted an extra 2 nights, called up the owner ( Harish ) from the way and he was kind enough to book me in another hotel opposite to his place ( Jaivana Haweli - at a bargain price ) - that's another review !!

His hotel is very very neat & clean & organised. Being an Indian I am probably more finicky than other foreign tourists. But this guy was so helpful that he would arrange anything I would ask him. In fact he was the one I would go to every morning and he would chalk out my day's plans including where to eat & where to shop.

Coming to the rooms at his place - the only minus point is the size, a bit small BUT nevertheless very functional and most important CLEAN & VERY NEAT. The toilets are extremely clean and the shower is good with hot water all day long.

The restaurant at his place is very very good and underestimated I feel. The views are lovely and a coffee at the terrace in the evening and a beer at night is just Perfect. The food is vegetarian BUT he has eggs on the menu. If you still want Chicken / Meat he will order it from a nearby place which is good.

Very decently priced and very fresh food at Mewar Haveli.

Overall I would recommend the place highly to foreign tourists and singles travelling alone. Safe and decent place. At under 1500 rupees, its sheer Value for Money.

We've just returned from a short trip to northern India (Delhi, rajhastan&Agra) and this one has been the best hotel we've tried.

Based on the reviews we booked the hotel by telephone once in India. We wanted 2 nights but could only stay one in a deluxe room with lake views. The next day, unfortunately, we had to move to another nearby hotel.

Excellent value for money, perfect staff, clean and nicely decorated, elevator, great roof top restaurant (indian&continental food at incredible prices)... the only one con was room's size, a litlle bit small for a deluxe room.

Unlike some other 'tripadvisor-blessed' hotels (for example in Agra) I can highly recomend this one in Udaipur.
