well arrived back from DK last weds, had a great holiday with my partner and 4 year old son.
Really just echoing what others have said, hotel is clean and tidy, rooms, are fine with everything you would need, but they are fairly basic, with no add ons other than a tv i.e no tea coffee facilities, hairdryer etc, which is fine by me.
meals were ok, pretty much the same every lunch and dinner, but I tried not to pile my plate with everything and be sensible with my choices so I didn't get too bored, plenty of salad and veg choices available and some grill which was lovely although do check the chicken/turkey kebabs they do some pieces in the ones we picked up were still a bit raw, but nothing to worry about as long as you check. puddings were lovely as were the variety of ice creams and you canget kebab rolls and, chips, pizza, and pasta from the snack bar for lunch, which sometimes made a nice change.
pools were lovely we made use of the omar pool and slides which was great, although not very safety conscious so do keep an eye on littler kids, and the pool area is quite slippy, but a very lovely pool and surprisingly relaxing over there to.
Entertainment was as already said in so many reviews brilliant, lots going on all the time, my boyfriend played water polo a few times, which could get very competitive, lol, and I did aqua aerobics and a few of the games they played. The team were brilliant, they do ask everyone to join in but do leave you be if you don't want to jpin in something.
Evening entertainment involved a kiddies disco, from 8:30 to 9:30ish and then the club dances with everyone on stage and then the animation team would pick people out to dance one on one, if you didn't want to they did just leave you be. you then had a bingo game, followed by a show done by the team, mainly involved dancing, or comedy sketches, all good fun and did genuinely laugh out loud to most of them.
They do all work very hard, especially as others have mentioned before, sam, the childrens entertainer who works from 10 through to 12:30 then again from 2 through to about 5:00 and then he was around from 8 until 12, doing kiddies discoand taking part in shows, he doesn't seem to stop.
The team also sell t-shirts for the kids with their names on and then a cartoon character on the back, these were 20 DT I think, we got one for my son, but if you have a big family just be warned
went on the camel trip and pirate boat trip which were good fun , and don't cost too much, didn't go into medina in hammamet as just walking to the shops down the road were hassle enough and to be honest it was just too hot to do anything, i was quite happy by the pool or on the beach.
The beach is also lovely , your able to walk out a fair way, and it is surprisingly warm, great selection of sports to try put, some you pay for but you can use things like pedaloes and windsurfs for free.
mattresses for the pool and beach are 2dt a day or 10dt for a week, as a rough guide while i was there the exchange rate was about 2.28 DT to the £.
Other tips, drinks are watered down, but the beer is ok, as is the wine if you add a bit of lemonade and ice, (all drinkjs are served in plastic glasses, but this is for obvious reasons) i would advise getting alcohol and fags on the plane or in airport coming over, we flew with firstchoice and got a bottle of bacardi and smirnoff blue for £16, and on the way back i got some lambert and butler for my dad which were £28 for 400, in monastir airport they were 35.50 for 400.
also have tips ready for porters in airport and at hotel or a firm no ready for them, £1 coins will suffice, we got caught short at airport and had no change, that porter must have had a happy day!!!
All in all an excellent holiday was had for the price we paid which really was not a lot, and was worth every penny.
