My boyfriend and I wanted a beachy, relaxing and peaceful holiday and were assured when we booked up that hotel emira was very quiet ha ha !!!
First of all our flight was delayed and we basically arrived at the hotel at 2130 instead of 1530. We had asked our rep on the bus if we could change travellers cheques when we got there as tunsian dinar is a closed currency it can't be changed beforehand. When we arrived we were told that no we couldn't get any money from ANYWHERE and that there was no food in the hotel. We hadn't eaten since 0800 that morning and it was my boyfriends b day.
So we went to unpack to blaring ??music not sure if u would call the birdy song, agodoo and the hokey cokey music it was hellish and happened everynight and day the same rubbish music at ridiculous volume.
The room was ok def not 3 star !!! not even a hairdryer !!! Our door handle fell off countless times which we informed hotel staff and our rep and nothing was done. We asked to swap rooms due to the music and people banging on doors at 0230 am and again nothing was done.
The pool was too small for the amount of people using it and its impossible to get a sun lounger unless you have a towel on one at 7am !!!
We never had breakfast there we went for a coffee and pain au chocolat in cafe pyramid just down the road very local lovely man that runs it.
We went to the hotel azur private beach most days which is gorgeous.
We visited the aquapark and it is the biggest rip off only 3 slides were working. We had to pay for sunloungers and when we went for lunch the waitor asked to see our ticket which we showed him he then gave us two cold meals we assumed these were part of the ticket price and began to eat the cold chips etc then he came back and tried to make us pay for it !!!!!
The restuarants we visited were Sidi slims which is very posh , casscades where the waitors kept getting the order wrong but was lovely setting, black and white where again the waitors pretend to understand but don't !! The bierhouse in the square was great for cheap food.
The medina is scary be careful !!! The taxis were cheap and great value. The casino wasn't open. The tunisian men are very sleazy so ladies be wary.
So all in all we enjoyed the sun, the beach and most restaurants and that was about it. We wouldn't go back.
