“Watch your Back with Kadir the owner of this hotel”

Legend Cave Hotel

The hotel accommodations are nice, about a 3 star US standards. The food is excellent, home cooked by the wife of the owner. Women: beware, the owner is outrageously flirty and intrusive. We paid through a travel agent (Commodore Travel in Istanbul) for a top notch room. Upon arrival, they tried to put us in a cinder block room. I complained and they did upgrade the room to a "cave style". The owner of the hotel's name is Kadir. He owns a travel agency in town. We could not get our faxed documents from our travel agent from him, and found out later that he switched our more expensive bus tickets from our travel agent to cheaper ones through his own company. What was supposed to be a 10 hour direct bus, with sleeping seats turned into a 12 stop, uncomfortable 15 hour ride. Basically, the owner is unscrupulous. I would stay somewhere else if I visited Goreme again. But if you get stuck staying here, just be careful. Also, we paid 200 dollars through the agent, and another American couple was able to negotiate a 70 dollar rate direct for the same night, same room. This is my report as of April 2008.

I was originally booked at the kelebek hotel but upon arrival and noone greeting me or offering help with our bags we were told that we had no booking. With no smiles present in the room or noone seeming very willing to help I decided to ring the localcave guesthouse where I was booked in for 2 nights latel. The owner answered and happily agreed to come and get us. His lovely young helper ali grabbed our bags and they were so friendly and welcoming. We were taken to the local cave hotel which immediately had a much better atmosphere than kelebek. It is very open plan and the swimming pool is just great. We were given a basic room which we found comfortable but very small for 2 adults and a claustrophobic toddler. The sitting area near the pool is just great, comfie and spacious. The owner is simply the best...so laid back and always gentle and helpful and fun. A little secret is that if you pay more money and order the 2 bedroom flat on the upper floor you will be in heaven...wow...what a difference...was a wonderful 4 nightsd at the local...not long enough...Ali looked after my 2 year old the wholetime and to this day he says his name sadly looking for him whereever we are. I do not have enough good words to speak about this little gem of a place...Im sure you will not be disappointed..it is also centrally located.

We asked for our agency to find a hotel in capadoccia for us and then we checked tripadvisor forums. The latest reviews was excellente than we decided to stay there. But the guy at the reception was drunk and smell wine when we get there. The owner woman was crying for some reason and they were very rude to us. The treated us like we interrupted something between them and like we broke into their private house! Then they sent us the room which very cold and the heating system were broke. When I went to reception to ask help the guy was even drunker and fighting someone who was the son of owner woman I guess. Of course they didn't car. Then we realized that our room was full of fleas. I decided to leave the hotel in the morning but they threatened us to charge full money for one week, they even showed their fists, shouted etc. And the did what they said and charged full money from the card number that I gave for guarantee! I realized when I received my credit card folio from the bank. Of course I called my bank to cancel it.

The short story of the long, don't trust the other reviews. I think they behave good when they are in good mood but they are not professional . The hotel is an interesting cave building itsel but not clean and managed well. Don't waste your money!

Perfect balance price/quality. The rooms are superb, you get the experience of staying at the caves with comfort and design...the bathtubes with hydromassage is a great reward after the tours. The views are stunning, and the owners who run the hotel are extremely warm and welcoming, be sure that they will take good care of you as they are honest and caring. The best choice of the region.

Beware of cave hotel promıses by travel agents! We booked a hotel ın Goreme vıa a travel agent ın Istanbul and asked for and was offered a specıal boutıque cave hotel. Unfortunately, when we arrıved the hotel was covered ın sand and the cave room had no wındows and was cold!
We walked and found Legend Hotel, we stayed ın room 10, whıch has lovely vıews over the town. It was clean, quaınt, wıth very frıendly and helpful staff. Jacuzzı, Wıfı, kettle and other little amenıtıes ıncluded. The breakfast was fresh and good.
On leavıng, we had trouble fındıng a hotel ın istanbul and the manager let us use the ınternet and the phone for free to help us fınd a hotel.
Wıthin Goreme thıs would rank as a good mıd-hıgh-end hotel wıth management whıch you can trust.
