The hotel accommodations are nice, about a 3 star US standards. The food is excellent, home cooked by the wife of the owner. Women: beware, the owner is outrageously flirty and intrusive. We paid through a travel agent (Commodore Travel in Istanbul) for a top notch room. Upon arrival, they tried to put us in a cinder block room. I complained and they did upgrade the room to a "cave style". The owner of the hotel's name is Kadir. He owns a travel agency in town. We could not get our faxed documents from our travel agent from him, and found out later that he switched our more expensive bus tickets from our travel agent to cheaper ones through his own company. What was supposed to be a 10 hour direct bus, with sleeping seats turned into a 12 stop, uncomfortable 15 hour ride. Basically, the owner is unscrupulous. I would stay somewhere else if I visited Goreme again. But if you get stuck staying here, just be careful. Also, we paid 200 dollars through the agent, and another American couple was able to negotiate a 70 dollar rate direct for the same night, same room. This is my report as of April 2008.
