You feel like you are back when it was a lively town. Do
not miss it !

You can't help but marvel at this wonderful place in Turkey. Not only is the technology and engineering are sheer genius, considering the technology then, the scale is simply breath-taking. I am especially impressed with the open-air auditorium which has such wonderful sound projection and am simply enchanted with the library. This is definitely worth your time and not to be missed!

I was in Dubai and said, you know what i want to see? Ephesus, thus i went all the way to turkey just too see the ancient city. and was it worth it? absolutely. for those who have seen pompeii i highly reccommend seeing this for contrast. Pompeii was a working town built for functionality whereas this one was built for beauty for it was reliant on trade. truly beautiful!

just time the trip for a non cruise ship day, makes a huge huge difference!

This is an extremely well preserved Greek and Roman port city. In my view, this is better than anything in Rome because it is so complete with all aspects of life in their times. Do not miss the Celsus Library. On a practical note, it takes two to three hours to see the site. You will get the most out of it if you use a guide since they will tell you about the aspects of daily life. The site is not shaded and it is hot. Go early (light's better for photos anyway), wear a sunhat, and carry water. No restrooms once you enter. It is a popular tourist spot, so I suggest you go here first and then drive the short distance to the House of Virgin Mary. Shaded and quieter, it's a good place to reflect on what you've seen.
