This was the 2nd time I've stayed at the Courtyard Ginza, for a week both stays; the first stay was in November 2006, which I also reviewed here. The hotel has changed ownership and been renovated since then. In 2006 I didn't think the hotel even needed renovation, but renovate they did and the rooms are even nicer.
This hotel is in a terrific location just a short 5 minute walk from the main street of Ginza and also 2 subway stations that will take you all over Tokyo. It's also a 10 minute walk from the JR Shimbashi Station which can get you trains anywhere in Japan. In fact, on my arrival I took the Narita Express to Tokyo Station, then walked right across the same platform to take the Yamanote Line to Shimbashi Station and walked 10 minutes to the hotel - a total of 80 minutes from Narita - sure beats the bus in rush hour which could easily take 2 hours!
The staff was excellent and the room was more than fine. I paid about $250/night including taxes for a very quiet 10th floor room. That may sound pricey, but remember this is the Ginza in Tokyo, and in that context it's not a high price.
I wanted to go to the horse races and the racetrack is away from the center and not easy to get to. The concierge, a very nice lady, spent some time trying to figure it out and her instructions were perfect. I really want to compliment her.
The only thing I would caution is the breakfast buffet, last time it was included in my package but this time it wasn't. The price is $25 and it is NOT worth that much. It's a decent buffet, but nothing special - believe me, I've had breakfast buffets that were worth $25 and more, but this is not one of them. If your breakfast isn't included in the package, I would pass.
I didn't eat at all in the hotel as the prices seemed very high even for the Ginza. I did have some drinks in the lobby bar which is a nice atmosphere.
The WiFi in the room worked fine, it isn't wireless but they provide a cable. It does cost $10/day extra though.
In summary I love this hotel and it works perfectly for me when I come to Tokyo.
