I stayed at The Federal Villa in December 2007. It was a lovely experiance and a good price. I think that it is best to book through an agent to get a good price. I paid RM900 for a double room with breakfast for 4 nights. The room was clean and well maintained. It wasn't 5 star, but a comfortable 3. The best thing about staying here is that you use all the facilities of the more expensive hotel, The Holiday Villa. Breakfast is at the Holiday Villa, the pool and Spa. The Breakfast was good with a big selection. The pool was large and surrounded by well kept gardens. The Spa was recently renovated and offered great value compare to the other hotels in the area. The Hotel is right on the beach with a lovely view of the surrounding islands.

The Federal Villa/Holiday Villa staff were very friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed the atmosphere as it was traditional Malay. Which i would think visitors should wish for when visiting Malaysia. It makes a lovely change to the foreign owned hotels on the Island that show very little of the amazing culture of Malaysia.
