We absolutely loved Tanjung Sanctuary, it is set on a huge property and all the bungalows and far apart so it is very private. The rooms are absolutely huge! Each room has a huge bed, couch and coffee table, dining table and a huge balcony with recliner lounges on them.

There are two downfalls of Tanjung, firstly, it is very far away from everything. For some this could be a benefit, but we were spending a lot of time at Pentai Cenang, the main Langkawi area and beach, and it was about a 20 minute drive. The second downfall is that the beach is not great, in fact, when we were there it had a thick lining of oil on the top and tiny jellyfish kept biting us (not sure whether it was just the time of year)

The hotel itself though is great, there are monkeys everywhere, but they dont come near you and the restaurant is over the water. There is a great pool and sunbaking area and the staff are very helpful. We went fishing one day and bought back a 5kg Barracuda, the resaurant staff cooked it for us and presented it magnificently! They were so proud, it was great!

Overall loved Tanjung and recommend it highly.

I had such a great time at Tanjung Sanctuary that I felt I had to contribute a review here! This is a lovely little hideaway with bungalows nestled among trees and situated beside a small, private bay. We had a beach front bungalow, the room was huge and we even had our own private balcony with a perfect view of the beach. Staff were extremely helpful and polite, and the resort offers car rental services and day tours. Overall, the facade needs a bit of work as age is starting to show, but other else than that, it is extremely clean, spacious yet private. I would highly recommend this place if you are seeking a quiet, relaxing holiday.

Loved Tanjung Sanctuary for it's huge rooms (we stayed in a luxury villa overlooking the beach - it was fab), quiet peaceful beaches, afternoon tea and sandwiches (yum!!) and monkeys! Negatives were the pool, it wasn't very clean and didn't look at all appealing but the beach made up for that. Also for two single girls it was too quiet at night, so we hopped into a taxi back to Patai Cenang where it was livelier. Overall loved the place for the peacefulness, the beach and the monkeys!!

I have just returned from a 5 night stay at the Tanjung Sanctuary and I personally do not think I could have chosen a better place to stay, considering my budget and what I was looking for.

The Tanjung Sanctuary is an oasis of calm and relaxation, set amongst some amazing jungle on the western side of Langkawi.

The bungalows are HUGE, and although slightly dated they are well appointed. Each has a large balcony which overlooks the ocean (the hilltop bungalows have obscured views through the trees), and all are air conditioned, have huge king sized beds and everything else you'd expect in a well-appointed hotel.

The wildlife is right at your doorstep, and the local monkeys and birds are regular visitors to the balconies (hence the need to keep the doors closed or the monkeys "borrow" things!)

The restaurant offers a large selection of malaysian and western food at very reasonable prices for a hotel (leass that GBP10 for 2 courses and drinks).

I think people who have given the Tanjung Santuary bad reviews are forgetting that it is a 3 star and only around GBP14 per person per night! However having said that, I was glad of having read the negative reviews so my expectations were exceeded!The staff are extremely friendly, and it is close to Pantai Chenang, and not too far from Kuah.

Most of the other hotels are just that, hotels. This is like a private getaway, and the only other place that seems to offer this is the Datai, but for a lot more money.

If you want an amazing relaxing holiday at a very reasonable price, I would wholeheartedly recommend the Tanjung Sanctuary.
