“Great for Families - but watch out for the supplements”

Beau Rivage Hotel

This was our first trip since Junior was born 6 months ago and Beau Rivage was our first foray into the world of "Family Friendly" hotels.
The staff were excellent and all very taken with the little'n .
The room (lagoon suite) was huge and had a great balcony and sea view - but didn't feel quite up to 5Star - maybe I've been spoilt with Kid Free Boutique Hotels
My only ( and major gripe) is the supplements to the menu on top of the 40 something Euros that you have already paid for dinner with the half board option - go off the set menu and you can add a minimum of another 30 Euros and up to 80E making a simple dinner more expensive than London prices - and this is before you have even hit the wine list ( and that's when prices become ridiculous - 50 Euros for some aussie plonk that cost £5 in the UK , 90 Euros for Chablis ! )
Booze and Food Prices aside we had a great time

Hotel is in good location near lovely beach. The pool is great and the rooms are clean and spacious. Service however is pretty patchy, you often need to repeat drinks orders and they often arrive well into your meal. Worst problem is the cost. Large beer Six Euros, Cheapest wine 38 Euros. It is more expensive than Canary Wharf!!!!

a great, relaxing holiday. we are a family with a child aged 4 yrs and one 16 months. the place itself, the water sports, the staff, the food, the mini(kids) club:everything is so good! It is so well thought from the kids' perspectives and hence great for parents. There were also families with older children or couples on honeymoon. Nice spa, if you are into massages & co. the coast south of the hotel is "real" villages, the villages closer to the hotels a bit of a rip off ( but that's part of the game!). highly recommended

Having endured a 60 hour journey with two small children, from the UK, due to Emirates delays a tangible wave of calm was experianced when we entered the Beau Rivage.
The central concourse with beautiful thatched roof and a wonderful aromas, flower displays and water features to welcome you, then the rooms themselves, which are built in colonial style blocks of six, continue the feeling of relaxed luxury. We stayed in a Junior Suite and found it very comfortable for us and our two young children. Very clean, well furnished and with a very initmate feel compared to other hotel rooms round the world that lack charecter.
Our room overlooked the excellent pool, which has a very large shallow area for children and a good sized deeper pool. The beach was straight off a postcard, with beautiful clean white sands, shallow turquoise sea and some small rockpools for the kids. Watersports facilities from the beach were well organised and the staff very friendly.
The standard of the cuisine was excellent in all the resturants, however the service on the Al a Carte evenings was very disapointing, the 'normal' buffet evenings were no problem but when it came to waiter service evenings the service ground to a halt, it literally took hours for the meal to be served and the wine would arrive halfway through the main course. The resturants were you pay a suppliement are excellent and the service and food there could not be faulted.
The main criticism is the cost of everything at the hotel, they know they have a captive market but why they need to charge 40 Euros for there cheapest bottles of wine, or 50 Euros for swiming trunks in their shop.
I recommend asking for the mini bar to be emptied and getting a taxi to the Supermarket, where prices are about the same as the UK, and stocking up there.
The Hotel charged 140 Euros for a car and driver for the day, he said he was paid around 350 Euros/month.

The childrens club is excellent and they will provide the children with there own buffet on the evenings of freshly produced food well above your avarage chicken nuggets standard.
Evening entertainment in well organised and of a high standard and is presented in such a way that its there if you want it.

Overall a beautiful hotel in a fantastic setting that will not dissapoint - but be prepared for the bill.

“Beautiful Hotel & Beach BUT terrible service”

Beau Rivage Hotel

Our check-in to Beau Rivage took a good 1 hour even though there are just barely 4 other couples that were at the reception area. There were more than 1 reception staff available but most of them were just standing around chit-chatting instead of helping the guests to be check-in asap. Understand totally that this is a beach resort and we should be more laid back instead of still expecting the haste in city life. But is 1 hour too long a wait for guests who went through 8 hours of flight, 1.5 hours bus transfer to get to the beautiful resort ? By the way, for the welcome drink, we noticed that the Europeans receive fresh flowers whereas the Asians did not. Not that we are dying to have the flowers but just felt that the treatment is bit unfair. Well, this is the beginning of our nightmare.

On our 1st night's dinner at the main restaurant ( the restaurant is tier laid out ), we were ushered to the bottom of the tier which we felt a bit weird even though there were empty tables on the upper tier. But upon reaching the bottom tier, we realised that everyone sitting on the bottom tier were Asians and all sitting on the upper tier were the Europeans, Americans .... We were truly shocked and very uncomfortable. After ordering our choice of food, we asked the waitress that we prefer a pool view and want to sit on the upper tier to have a better view. She did eventually move our seat but not sure if I'm being over-sensitive but there is a tone of unwillingness.

On our 3rd day, we ordered room service for lunch. So the salad, burger and fruit platter arrived like 20 mins later which was good. The burger was cold and the cheese on top of it has already hardened. There is really no way that I can eat it so I have to send it back and room service was very good and agree to send a replacement which arrive like 15 mins later. The butler who served the food passed a terrible comment the moment he stepped into the room, that is "You are from China ?". Honestly, this is downright discrimination. Firstly, not all Asians are from China and what has sending back a burger got to do with which country you are from.

Lastly, the couple that travelled in the same tour group told us at the boat house, they were learning water ski but was specifically told that they will only be given 3 passes. Again the treatment is totally different for the Europeans who were given as many passes and time that they needed. Though this is not something that I have experienced personally but I thought that this is important for the wider audience to be aware of.

The only reason why I did not rate Beau Rivage a terrible experience is they do have a few star employees that save the day. Especially the staff from the Spa, I was booked for a spa treatment on my last day but due to slight sun burnt, they explained in great details why I should not be having the spa treatment and recommended after-sun lotion to sooth the burnt area.

In all fairness, the beach and the facilities are fantastic but if you are Asian and would like to stay here. Do set your expectations lower.
