The Marco Polo Davao is considered by many of the people i know in Davao to be their best. It did not disappoint when I stayed 3 times in 2006. The rooms are very nice and quite spacious, at a similar standard as the Marriott hotels i have stayed in Cebu, Sydney and others. There is internet connection but not free. WIfi connection is available in the lobby lounge but one needs to buy a Globequest prepaid internet card (good for 1 hour or 24 hours) from the hotel reception. Go for the 24 hour card.

I was surprised that the bellman even remembered me and greeted me by my name when i came back the 2nd and 3rd times! He also obliged and even bought for me some stuff i needed from the nearby convenience store (it was not busy during the time i checked in the 2nd time).

One will also feel safe and secure here as the security is tight. I tried the buffet in the coffee shop Cafe Marco. Wide selection but not in the same level as the buffet spreads in the Shangrila Hotels i've stayed in within the Philippines. The hotel staff are quite helpful and courteous.

Having said the above, it is also the most expensive hotel in Davao. But expensive is relative and for visitors who earn their money in US Dollars, Euros or other strong currencies the hotel rate of USD65 to 85 is quite reasonable. I would consider this hotel as excellent and will stay here in my future trips to Davao.

I stayed at the Marco Polo whilst on business with the Anteneo De Davao University (directly across the road from the Marco Polo) It was my first time ever in the Philippines and I loved it.
What a fantastic place is Davao. The staff at the hotel were friendly, always courteous, it was a clean and safe and a beautiful environment. I'm back again this year in Davao (2007) for business again and to meet up with staff and students from Anteneo de Davao University and the Marco Polo. This time I'll take the time to really see Davao properly and enjoy the beauty and the peacefulness of such a great place. Loved it, and I can't wait to get back there.

Not the most charming location, but good, reliable quality. Nice decoration, comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast. The bar however served bad wine, and kept getting our order wrong.

I stayed in Marco Polo Davao last June 2006 for 3 nights on a business trip and it was wonderful. Whenever I am in Davao, I always make sure that I either stay at the Marco Polo or the Waterfront Insular. Both are excellent hotels but the advantage of staying at the Marco Polo is that it is close to everything (government and businesses and not to mention its close proximity to shopping) while the Waterfront is a bit far away.

Rooms - I was given a room in one of the top floors with an excellent view of the Davao Gulf. Room space is adequate and so is the bathroom space.

Staff - Very pleasant and accommodating, typical of Filipino hospitality. They even remembered my name.

Location - it is in the centre of the city, close to everything.

The next time I will be in Davao, I will definitely stay at the Marco Polo.
