The Swissotel Krasnye Holmy in Moscow is fantastic. The rooms are fantastic, but so largely speaking is the price. My room was around $300 a night.

I spent 4 nights there, although I was only due to be there for 3 but the BA crash landing at London Heathrow meant I stayed another night. That was actually a sort of test for what I thought of the hotel for, although I was disappointed not to be going home, I did think that at least it was another night is a lovely hotel.

I was staying in an Executive Room on the 18th floor (room 1803). The hotel was 33 floors, with a fantastically trendy bar on that floor that circles the hotel tower. The views are great from both my room and the bar.

I knew as soon as I arrived in the lobby the hotel would be good. The greetings were warm and the style, design and artworks were all stunning. Even the lift looked so good, with a TV playing BBC World News, that I felt I needed to take a photo.

When I walked into my room I did go "wow" audibly. The room is large, with a long wide passageway with wooden panel cupboards which also houses a Nespresso machine. Then on the other side is a gigantic and beautiful bathroom with stylish fixtures and very large all glass shower. The bathroom was a real treat.

The bedroom has a large, and comfortable, king size bed with high quality linen. It was a bed you did not want to get out of in the morning! A good desk to work at and the TV had loads of channels from all over Europe. As a new hotel there were funky gadgets and controls for lights etc.

But things were expensive. Drinks were especially costly. Internet access was very high.As I was in an executive room, I could use the lounge on the 19th floor which had a great breakfast with everything from fruit to hot food. In the evenings they served drinks and snacks, which were enough to have as a meal if you were only moderately hungry. There are some places to eat, but I only tried the Cafe on the 3rd floor which was good (with an amazing dessert buffet) but costly.

On the 3rd floor is the spa/fitness centre. Considering the size of the hotel the gym seemed small. But the few time I went it was not busy even at the traditional peak times for hotel gyms and so maybe it is just well thought through. There were a few running machines, bikes and cross trainers and then a good selection of weight machines and free weights. There is a pool, but that was being renovated while I was there.

The hotel is well located for the major tourist attraction of Red Square and also the nearby trendy (and expensive) restaurants like GQ. When I first got to the hotel I thought it seemed to be out of the way, but quickly realised it was very well positioned.I liked it a lot as you can tell.

“Swissotel Moscow”

Swissotel Krasnye Holmy

Jan 24, 2008

I visit Moscow quite a lot and last October my girlfriend and I tried out the new Swissotel Krasne Holmy. It's an expensive hotel even by Moscow standards but has a great location for central Moscow's business district and exhibition venues.
Our room on the 18th floor was good but the shower must be fed from the basement as it took a couple of minutes to get hot water flowing through – this is a 5 star hotel and I would have expected hot water on demand. The internet service (WIFI and LAN) is patchy to say the least - very frustrating as I had deadlines to meet. After 20 minutes the duty manager arrived but still no access – then an IT guy turned up but no help. Thankfully the Business Centre staff were as good as gold and got me on-line in 5 minutes flat – nice to have real human beings running this department rather than a room with a PC / printer, which is my usual experience in other European business hotels.
Stunning views from the City Space Bar on the 34th floor but again speed and quality of service takes the edge of the experience. 20 minutes waiting for change from our waitress was way too long and no hint of a 'sorry for the delay'.
Overall I would say that this is decent hotel going through the teething problems of being new. I'll be back again in the Spring and suspect that they'll have ironed out some of the things that need fixing. I'll let you know!

Dear Guest,
I would like to thank you for communicating your impressions about your stay, as we are very interested in improving the services we offer to our guests.

I would like to apologize for the different inconveniences you encountered at Swissotel Krasnye Holmy last October. I effectively hope that you will find all elements you mentioned ‘ironed’ at your next visit. We are at the moment working on increasing our Internet coverage with our third party company - who owns and operates the networks in the hotel - and expect to provide better connectivity to our guest in the future. I would also like to mention our bar on top floor, where our new management offers now some innovative products that I can only suggest you to try: for example, one of our seasonal cocktails.

Please do not hesitate to contact me for any issue which would arise during your next stay. The entire Swissotel Team looks forward to welcome you back and hopes to exceed your expectations at your return in spring.

Moscow trip Nov 23 to Nov 28 READ THIS BEFORE STAY AT SWISSOTE

My original reservation was Nov23 to Nov26 at the Swissotel hotel then Nov26 to Nov28 at Milan hotel, we wan it to try out difference hotels.
First stop Swissotel, we arrive at the Swissotel hotel around 12 pm Nov23, I got a shock moment of my life, two of receptions doesn't seem to speak any English at all, luckily my girlfriend speak fully Russian. Finally got into our room was very surprise how the bathroom wasn’t clean after the previous guest, and our TV doesn't seem to been working. I immediately call the front desk and ask them to clean the bathroom and fix our TV. While we waited it we desired to go for lunch at red square. 4 hours past by we finally got back into our room, unbelievable the bathroom wasn’t clean yet and the TV still broken, then I’m immediately ask for a manager, come to find out there weren't any manager on duty at 6 pm Friday afternoons. The problem finally solve, we got a new room, but again our new room TV doesn't work, it take them 28 min in our room to figure it out why it doesn't work. On to the next problem, Saturday morning breakfast was a disaster, after we ate our continental breakfast, on the way out a lady ask me to sign a bill for 1350 rub (52 USD), later to find out that breakfast only free for one guest. Wow, eggs and breads for 52 USD the most expensive breakfast I ever saw. The problem doesn’t stop there for some reason our key to our room doesn’t work we have to wait in the main lobby for 20 min for a security guy to find some help because there's no one at the front desk. On to the next problem, Saturday night we try out the City Space Bar, the foods was excellent and view was gorgeous but again it come with a big disappointed, for some reason we were only giving one spoon and no napkins and our waiter is no where to be found. I could swore I only see my waiter for only two time, one is when he take the older and second time when he brought us the food, we had to ask someone else to get us the bill that how bad it was. O no the problem weren’t end there, I had to put my alarm on at 4 AM Moscow time that mean 8 PM in eastern time for my conference meeting call, for my work. It bad enough for a 5 star hotel should offer guest free Internet instead of charger guest for 33 USD for internet use per day, but beside the point after use the internet for 18 min I got disconnect due to hotel internet error and the thing that upset me the most is no one can figure it out why. (unbelievable)
Sunday morning I’m finally contact with a manager (VASILY GRISHTAKOV), and explain to him what were happen to us for the last 2 days. He immediately apologized and offers to fix my internets. He seem to be very helpful and understanding but unfortunately I wan to check out right away had enough with this hotel, I pay $2,126 .77 for 3 night stay and believe me it not worth it for a 5 star hotel with a 1 star service. I DO NOT recommend this hotel for any business or pleasure stays. What I do recommend is the MILAN HOTEL with excellent 4 star hotel and a superior service with outstanding price I pay 190.00 for 1 night and additions to my 2 night NOV26 to NOV28 there for 312.00 feel free to ask me any question at emandyou69@yahoo.com and additions some photo I toke I hope this help out some problem with some people going to stay at Swissotel.

P.s.
I never in my life check out a hotel early due to poor service

Dear Guest,
Thank you for sharing the experience you had at Swissotel Krasnye Holmy, Moscow in November 2007. It is thanks to your input that we can improve the quality of the services we are offering.

We are very much concerned by the bad experience you encountered. Therefore we would like to apologize, as what you describe does not correspond to the standards we want to offer to our guests. We would like to provide you with a clarification about the main elements you are stating, so that some misunderstandings will be avoided in the future.

Swissotel has a strong recruitment procedure which requires all front of house employees to be able to communicate in English.

Concerning the breakfast which you mention to be overpriced, our buffet offers a rich selection of hot and cold dishes for a unique price. You have the possibility to order separate items from our ‘A la carte’ menu if you only wish to pay by item. However we are always very keen to enhance our food offer and should you have any specific suggestions, we would be happy to discuss them with you. The fact that only one breakfast was complimentary is due to your room; it was booked for single occupancy only.

Related to the slow service in City Space, all comments were passed to our manager who will ensure that all measures are taken so that in the future, the speed and availability of the service will meet our guests’ expectations. However, we would like to mention that we offered you an exceptional 50% discount on your consumption.

Thank you also for sharing the positive impression you had about our Guest Experience Manager who was in contact with you for of all difficulties you faced from the very first day. We did our best to overcome your disappointment by not charging you for the use of internet as well as offering different amenities in your room (a bottle of wine and a large fruit plate).

We are sorry that despite all these measures we were not able to satisfy you, but if you will give us another chance by visiting our property, be certain that we will do our best to ensure that your stay will correspond to Swissotel Hotel & Resorts’ high standards. You can contact us directly at gem.moscow@swissotel.com in order to provide further suggestions or to request any more precise clarifications.

“Great hotel for sight seeing and business”

Swissotel Krasnye Holmy

I stayed for the weekend with my girl friend and I thought this place was great. 5-10 minute walk fram Pavletskaya station which is 40 mins from Domedov airport. You can see the hotel from the station when you arrive - the tallest building on the right.
Staff are friendly and rooms are great - bath for 2, shower for 2. My only gripe was the price of the food in the hotel - room service orange juice £12, tea £8 etc. Thankfully we booked a club room so breakfast was included - champagne (Moet) and caviar amongst ther things (including cooked breakfast) was included. Also the happy hour from 6-8 was a self service bar and again there was plentiful champagne and canapes.
If you do book a club room, the views are great - breakfast is on the 19th and our room was on 25th floor. Definitely worth it as the upgrade was only about £20 per room per night through expedia.
The pool and gym were fairly unexciting but I didn't go there for a healthy weekend.
City Space - the bar on the top floor was great too - open till 3am and also with stunning views. Cocktails were about £10.

“A pleasant two weeks”

Swissotel Krasnye Holmy

I spent two weeks at the Swissotel in winter 2007

It was selected for proximity to my company's offices, but is also convenient for Paveletskaya station and the airport express to Domodedovo. Also for Paveletskaya metro, which gives swift access to the centre of Moscow.

The area around the hotel has surprisingly limited restaurant facilities.

The room was large and well-equipped with a superb roll-top bath and large separate walk-in shower. The bed one of the most comfortable I have found in a hotel.

All lights and heating are controlled by a unit beside the bed. Televison was an excellent large flat screen. This did need a service engineer on a couple of occasions but the response was immediate and effective.

Complimentary coffeemaking facilities include a good quality espresso unit, although this did nevertheless fail.

Breakfast was extremely expensive and the selection of hot food very restricted compared to hotels of a similar class. Cold food was in better supply and included excellent smoked salmon and red caviar. Although the company was paying the bill, I ate out on days when I felt my appetite could not justify the £30/$60.

The circular bar on the 34th floor give an excellent night time panorama over the whole of Moscow. Expect 5* prices for drinks and snacks. Very comfortable seating. The area has the potential to be a wonderfully relaxing and comfortable experience.
However, on the occasions I visited only those who love listening to very loud techno in the background would be relaxed.

The complimentary shoe shine was excellent but did not involve returning the shoes in time for use the following day. Take two pairs if you want to use this service and leave for the office at a normal time.

It was cheaper to buy more socks locally than to use the laundry to wash them.

Concierge was able to obtain Bolshoi tickets for cash at short notice at agency prices.
