Excellent location in the central city. Convenient underground walkway to the Xian Bell Tower, shopping and restaurants. Had fun and a good meal at the nearby De Fa Zhang Jiaozi Shop where we enjoyed the dumpling banquet on the 2nd floor. Excellent breakfast buffet. Also appreciated that there was a China Construction Bank ATM, which is affiliated with Bank of America, very close by. Room was slightly small but adequate and included internet access. Tthe beds were hard but no worse than most other hotels in China.

Hotel is very average 3 star but for short stop overs you cant beat the location, right in the heart of everything. Brilliant!!!!
We were out all day and night so only came back to sleep and shower. Dining room was ok, only ate their once for a quick dinner, tried to get breakie one day but couldnt get a seat so gave it a miss

We stayed 2 nights at Bell Tower Xian. We had booked a standard room, but was upgraded for free to a suite on the business floor. The room was quite large and comfortable -- the shower was amazing. There was a smell of cig. smoke in the room and the hall but once we turned up the fan in the room, we could no longer smell it. The staff was very nice and helpful -- they spoke very good english. The breakfast was very very good. There were 2 tourist companies located in the hotel on the same floor as the restaurant. They were very helpful in booking tickets to a show (although I recommend that you book tickets only to the show and not the dinner/show combo). The location of the hotel was very convenient to Bell Tower, Drum Tower and Muslim quarter and within walking distance to city walls. But be forwarned -- drivers in Xian are very aggressive, so be very careful crossing the street.

I stayed at the Bell Tower Hotel for three nights in October 2007. The location was great as it was within walking distance to the Bell and Drum Towers. For those who are interested in shopping, there are a few large department stores kitty-corner to the hotel, as well, there is a upscale department store down the street. For those North Americans craving their Starbucks, there are two right across the street from the hotel (on different corners) and are easily accessible through the underground subway passage.

The hotel itself was fine. The room looked like it had been refurbished somewhat recently, but there were still a few rough spots, like the corners of the floor and the ceiling. For the most part, the bathroom was completely refurbished with new fixtures, but the tiling on the bathtub was a cracked and didn't look like it had been replaced. The room itself was facing the main street, which made it very loud at night. All of the odd numbered rooms faced the street, so if this is a concern, request an even-numbered room which faces the parking lot.

We had requested a non-smoking room and were assured upon check-in that we were given a non-smoking room, but the room we were given smelled strongly of smoke and had an ashtray in it, so clearly was not a non-smoking room. After asking for a new room, we were given a new room on the same floor, which still had an ashtray in it, but have such a strong smell.

We stayed at this hotel as part of a packaged tour and if I was to return to Xian, I wouldn't have a problem staying here again, but would probably shop around first.
