Just returned from our 3D/2N anniversary stay at the ANA Kyoto. KT & I are both Platinum Elite Members
Good points-
*very good phone reservation agent who offered us an upgrade to a Castle View room from a standard room due to our status - she made sure to secure our Non smoking King room request noted on our reservation
*Bus shuttle from Kyoto Station - very convenient & saved you another Y1000 @ way
*Excellent concierge service & bell hop staff ( kimono clad ladies)
*breakfast buffet included in rate with so so selection - definitely not worth Y2300 for usual charge
* lots of bath amenities, Free in room internet access, slippers, robes, newspaper
* close to subway & bus stop to sites
*waterfall was actually pretty if they only took out those fake deer (what are they thinking?)
Bad Points-
* when asked what Plat benefit we have - was informed a room upgrade- NO free water, chocolates, fresh fruit which is offered in most properties we have been to
*upgraded room given was a very tiny room
*when a bigger room request was made & a reminder that this was a booking for our anniversary, flatly informed that this was already the upgrade we had- offered a bigger room for close to another additional $50 which I declined - unfortunately , the agent I had spoken to several times prior to booking was on vacation both days
* also informed that ANA still is not full fledged member of the IHG group
*Fitness center/sauna/pool access for $10 & very limited hours0 1PM-8 or 9 PM
*although alerted that this was an anniversary booking, nothing special was extended-
* property clearly needs an upgrade- carpets are stained, as previously noted by another reviewer, cheap paintings on walls like ones found in BKK Night markets
Having booked directly with the website, also being PC members I had higher expectations from this hotel for more consideration.
I really should have booked at the Hyatt for a more memorable Anniversary stay.
