“Good Location”

After arriving off a long haul flight from the UK, and getting a transfer to the hotel, we were looking forward to a nice hotel, with good views. We weren’t disappointed, the staff were very welcoming, and the hotel was elegantly set out. Checking-in was easy, we were upgraded to a suite. The lift to our floor the 32nd floor had great views of KL, and the towers, the room itself was wonderful, we had a huge lounge area, with a dinning table, and separate toilet, and a massive TV, with comfortable seating. The bedroom had another massive TV, both rooms had a great view of KL. The walk-in wardrobe was very specious, and so was the bathroom, with a walk in shower decked out with the usual bathrobes and slippers you’d expect from a place like this. We found our room to be very quiet, in fact I didn’t once hear other guests, which I think is unusual. The location is not too bad, right across from The Mall, where we had breakfast, there were plenty of places for food there, and very close to the sky train, which of course takes you across KL centre. It’s worth the visit here, we would return back here when we come back to KL.

“In need of some TLC”

Seri Pacific

Oct 22, 2006

Well as some have said the Pan Pacific has had a name change and is now the Seri Pacific, the name was fine what the hotel did need to change was the carpet and the chairs in my room, they were dirty and this was a great shame cos this could be a nice hotel with a bit of TLC. I have to say that when i saw what others have put my hreat did sink a bit, but i do think they are beening a bit hard on the hotel, all this said the hotel does need some money on it as there are many new hotels opening around KL and it needs to keep up. All the staff were very nice and helped us, there were 3 of us in the room and we needed 3 beds so it was nice that we got a room with 3 real beds not a roll away thing! And we had a walk in shoer and next to that a bath, one of the biggest bathrooms i have ever seen in a hotel and again with 3 of us that was a big help.
Also we love the lifts! (glass lift that give you a view of the twin towers)

“Not an enjoyable experience”

Seri Pacific

We are regular travellers to Malaysia and have always been impressed with the warmth and hospitality we receive whenever we are there whether it be Western or Eastern Malaysia.

However, on this trip we made the mistake of staying at the Pan Pacific (now called Seri Pacific) despite having read the earlier negative reviews. Having stayed in the Golden triangle last year we decided to stay here because we wanted to stay further away from the city centre and because we believed the Pan Pacific was a good hotel chain and we booked what we thought was a good 4 or 5 star hotel. In reality it was more 3 star. Even though we didn't mind the dated decor and ambiance we took exception to the lack of service and hospitality. The hotel was booked to 60% occupancy but still felt overcrowded and staff were visibly overstretched which led to some brusqueness. Staff on the breakfast service were easily distracted and slow. I had to ask 3 different staff to show me where something was because they kept pointing me in the wrong direction. The breakfast buffet was not replenished quickly enough leading to long queues and unsightly scrambles so we gave up on breakfast after a couple of days and enjoyed the food and hospitality in the Bukit Bintang area. We like KL a lot and wanted to spend 6 days there. How I wish we had stayed at another hotel! There's no doubt this hotel gives good value for money (especially if you are familiar with KL and can get about by yourself) but don't expect much from the staff.

It is clearly a business hotel. While we were staying there, there was a huge international conference with many delegates. It would have been nice to be told of this by the hotel given that we had made the booking 3 months previously.

The hotel has a travel company located on site that organises trips. We arranged a trip to Malacca but our otherwise fantasic trip was spolied by an awful guide who insited on shouting everything and then repeating everything 3 times!

Just before we left KL, I read in the Straits Times newspaper that the new owners plan to increase occupancy rates by 10-15% and rates by a similar amount in the next 12 months. I wish them luck.

This is one hotel we won't be goping back to especially since this hotel is now part of the Best Western chain. Indeed, my experience of Best Western hotels in the UK can be summed up as : shabby rooms, mediocre food and poor customer service. So I guess the Pan Pacific is a perfect fit!

“Good Hotel for Short City Break”

Seri Pacific

4 of 5 stars
Cardiff

Stayed at the Pan Pacific KL at the end of May/beginning of June this year following a beach holiday in Penang. The location although towards the north of this relatively compact city was a good location, even though the busy areas of the golden triangle and chinatown areas are a 10-15 taxi ride of similar LTR ride. But these areas are busy and we personally preffered to be out of it. The PWTC station is just across the road as is "The Mall" shopping complex, which has good range of shops and a good food court with supermarket. Of course there are better shopping complex's but still handy to have on your doorstep.

Lobby area was very pleasant and professional. Great glass elevators which give good views of the city. We didnt use the restuarant but we always thought food loked lovely when passing. We didnt use the bar area but again looked very relaxed and had a pianist and vocalist every night.

Rooms were nice size, with walk in shower and seperate bath area and also a desk. Bath robes and slippers also provided and complimentry shoe shine. We had views of Petronas Twin Towers. Although this isnt a new hotel I dont agree that it needs urgent renovation. Everything looks to be standing the test of time quite well.

A big plus I found was the staff especially the concierge. Always on hand to help, book restaurants or give general advice. One chap even negotiated a third off an airport transfer and even warned us off the hotel limo as it was too expensive.

Pool area was small and you can only get the sun at certain times. But overall for a stopover or city break of 3-4 nights I think this is a perfect hotel.
