“good, bad, worse!”

Melia Kuala Lumpur

we have stayed 3 times at the Melia Kuala Lumpur, all 3 times booked via AGODA and that will be the last time too! AGODA seems to sell the unaware customer rooms straight from hell! there is no point in complaining to the MELIA MANAGEMENT or to AGODA as you never hear back from them + nothing will improve!
the first time we booked we had the most beautifull room ever, fruit bowl was waiting, spectacular view of the twin towers, spotless room and bathroom with everything in it one could ever wish for. beds excellent and pillows too, towels were flufffy and plenty! the second time we got a room straight from hell overlooking not only a very dismall and depressing filthy roof top, but no fruit bowl, a bathroom stript of the even most rudementary essentials. we were so stunned that we wondered if we were going to be charged extra for not bringing our own toilet paper! beds were lumpy and bedsheets with staines + there were only two smallish bath towells and in an non smoking room on a non smoking floor there were plenty of cigarette burns...!. we called house keeping and after waiting what seemed like hours a very crappy and worn out house keeper knocked on our door, handed 2 handtowels + all the items which were missing and informed us that "...the next time you stay here you bring your own stuff..." and with that she slammed the door and was off! it was late so we left it at that. breakfast is in a small area but is more then plentifull and good, friendly staff who look very overworked and very under paid! we left a complaint letter at the reception and went on with our stay in kuala lumpur. day 2, and nobody contacted us and on day 3 we left for home. our 3rd stay was 100 times worse then the second with not only the filthy depressing rooftop but also the noise of a party which seemed to go on until lunch the next day. people have parties but having too pay for the noisy privilegde and the dubious enjoyment of drunken people grabbing a microphoon and singing in a tone which would make whole mountain ranges crumble is just not on! a lettter was handed to the reception and we went on with our 3rd visit to kuala lumpur. day 2, and nobody contacted us and on day 3 we went home. we have since send a letter, registered and a fax but up till this day we never ever have received any word from the MANAGEMENT of the MELIA KUALA LUMPUR! now this is our sad story but we are very, very relieved that many of our friends can tell an even more horrifying sttory, so the lesson we learned is AGODA DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ITS CUSTOMERS EITHER! we never ever will book via them again and we gratefully acknowledge that all of our friend's won't do it either! a plus of the melia kuala lumpur is that it is right next to a train station, so in case it all geets too much you can grab your baag and run...! the melia kuala lumpur is right opposite time square with all the shops, around the corner there are more malls + shops, but that is just about the only plus we and about 30 other people , can think of so in other words, what you pay is not what you get!

“Convenient location, nice hotel”

Melia Kuala Lumpur

We just stayed at the Sol Melia, KL. It is a nice hotel, a bit old and tired at places but is being renovated. Our room was clean and one of the renovated ones. The hotel is right across from Times Square Mall and close to the skyway Monorail. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. Check in and overall experience was really good. We had breakfast included in our rate and the breakfast is huge and sumptuous. The taxi to the airport can be booked at the mall and costs 75 MYR. The Petaling street night market is 2 stops away on the monorail and worth a visit. We enjoyed our stay overall and I would recommend this hotel if you are in KL for site seeing and shopping. Taxi to Petronas towers through the booking agent in Times Square was only 30 MYR.

“Location, location, location....”

Melia Kuala Lumpur

4 of 5 stars
Newcastle

I stayed at the Hotel Melia in Kuala Lumpur for 9 nights from 10 March 2008. I chose the Melia due to it's location, and I was not disappointed. Surrounded by shopping centres and with a Monorail stop literally just outside the hotel, the Melia is the perfect base for a KL shopping/dining/exploring holiday.

The hotel itself is a little tired, with some fixtures in the bathroom requiring attention, and the carpet was marked in some places. Housekeeping left a LOT to be desired - I had to ask for my room to be cleaned on at least 3 occasions.

However, the reception, valet and telephony staff were absolutely fantastic, and went above and beyond the call of duty in terms of helpfulness, friendliness and efficiency.

Be wary of the Tour Desk - some of the tour prices are inflated, and the woman on the Tour Desk can be very pushy. Don't be afraid to haggle with her - if pushed, she will match the prices of other tour operators.

I asked for a non-smoking room at the front of the hotel, after having read negative reviews on this site concerning rooms at the rear of the hotel. The view is definitely better at the front of the hotel, which overlooks Berjaya Times Square.

I was pleasantly surprised by the breakfast buffet, which comprised of both Eastern and Western dishes, and was fresh, plentiful and diverse. Again, the staff were friendly, courteous and helpful, which was most welcome as I was travelling alone.

All-in-all, I enjoyed my stay at the Melia and would definitely stay there again.

Clean room but very basic. Dirty windows. Breakfast buffet was large, but pretty standard food. Stayed there for 2 nights, I dont think I'll ever go back, there, though.

“Big price big suprises”

Melia Kuala Lumpur

May 4, 2008

booked the hotel room via Internet; manage to get confirmation very quickly.

upon check-in, i ask for reservation of room for another night of extension; i was told that the rates that it's the hotel regulation and policy that I must pay according to the rack price! which is more than 100% extra! may I say that the hotel management doesn't encourage their guest to extend their stays there..!

thereafter i was told that the room given doesn't have the computer as claimed in the conformation sheet. luckily i brought my own laptop else i would be out of job during my stay here..! sigh...!

another surprise would be the bed provided too small; and the sizes doesn't stated in the booking page and confirmation sheet.
