“Renaissance New World - pretty comfortable”

I was booked into this hotel for a company event and seeing the mixed reviews on this site I was a bit concerned about what I would experience! However the New World Wing seems to be in good repair and comfortable - maybe the older wing is where the trouble arises.

I arrived at the wrong check in but was courteously escorted to the right one - only problem there was 2 queues. The hotel is high rise but had good fast lists and the view of the Two Towers from my room was great. The room was comfortable and seemed quite newly refurbished, with tea and coffee making facilities available. The buffet breakfast was fantastic as was the lunch and there was a good choice of restaurants for dinner although at hotel prices not KL prices. My main complaint was that the AC operated all the time when out of the room, which was not really necessary as it was only 25 deg - making the rook rather cold to come into.

The pool is extremely large and enjoyable, although rather overlooked by a high rise building site currently. Such is KL.

“Great, Great, Great!!”

This hotel delivered everything we were not expecting and more! on check in we didn't realise we were upgraded (or maybe we weren't?) but the room we got was just breathtaking. It was on the 14th floor with a bay window...to the left we could see the Petronas towers and to the right the KL tower....The view was out of this world...the room was clean and very comfortable, the service we received was impeccable...The pool area was lovely, a large well appointed pool....the breakfast buffet was vast and sufficient enough to carry you through the day until a late lunch. The staff were friendly and fluent in English, and most helpful.

The location was great, 7-10 min walk to the petronas towers, 3-4 min walk to the overhead tramline. A plethora of bars and clubs were just round the corner without creating much noise. wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and again.

Stayed over a weekend for 2 nights. Upgraded to Club rooms which were clean but about the same size as a Deluxe room. Furnishings were old and well-maintained. Buffet breakfast has a wide selection and the pool/gym facilities are awesome. I won't bother with the upgrade the next time, club only serves complimentary drinks from 5:30 to 7:30pm and limited selections of hor d'euvres.

“Graet hotel - a nice bit of luxury!”

Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel

5 of 5 stars
Dublin
Nov 8, 2006

If you want a lot of luxury but do not want to spend a fortune then stay here. Myself and my wife spent one night in the Renaissance before flying back to Ireland and knew we were splashing out a bit but wanted to end our holiday on a high. The hotel was excellent, the service was second to none, the rooms were very nice (we got our view on the Petronas Towers as requested) and the hotel facilities impressive. I think we spent eur50 for the room with an excellent buffet breakfast. The only downside was that we ordered two beers at the swimming pool and paid over twice average cost we had been paying throughout Malaysia. That must be how they can afford such a nice hotel!!

“Quality is downing....Disappointed”

Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel

2/4 found this review helpful

My family & I have stayed on weekend of 27 Oct '06 & have felt very disappointed on every aspects of this hotel. At least twice in a year we visit Kuala lumpur for a week & in some stage of our visit we stay for 2/3 nights in this hotel. We have started staying in this hotel since 2004 & untill last year we were very satisfied on every aspects of this hotel. But in 2006, we have started noticing that quality on all aspects has started falling down & is no more than a 3.5 or 3 star hotel. Be noted that we stay from 0 star to top class 5 star hotels all over the world including Kuala Lumpur & we judge every hotel during our stay from every single angle. At Renaissance we always stay in executive deluxe room, and despite that we are complaining at negative tone. Shall we stay in future? Yes, but just for that big swiming pool.
