My partner and I stayed at the CSN in 2007. Put simply, it was the finest, most amazing hotel experience I've ever had - and I've been to some of the best hotels in Europe, Asia, North America and Australasia.
I wouldn't even know where to start in commending this place. Everything was perfect from the lush tropical setting to the flawless, perfectly attentive yet unobtrusive service. The building and the setting itself were beautiful, and a great place to base yourself for walks into the Lake Gardens and surrounding areas.
For what it's worth, we were a gay couple travelling in Malaysia. In a trip that was wonderful in every respect, the Carcosa Seri Negara was definitely the highlight... a rare combination of very friendly yet professional service, gorgeous colonial architecture and a stunning rainforest setting in the middle of KL - what more could anyone want?

We got a very reasonably priced package to this small hotel (which has since been highlighted on "The Amazing Race") and were overwhelmed by the wonderful service level here. The place was a House of Parliment and is more like a lovely British B&B than a hotel. Even though on a package, we were upgraded into a room larger than some homes with two balconies and two bathrooms. The location is perfect, close to the city (you can see the skyline) but far from the noise in a lovel forest like setting.

Our Butler met us at the airport in the middle of the night and from that point on made it his personal mission to be sure that we were well cared for and happy. He was the perfect blend of professional and friendly. Nothing was too large or too small to ask for.

High tea at the hotel, a trip to the Royal Selangor Pewter Factory and the Batu Caves (a Hindu Temple) were only a few highlights of the trip. Carcosa Seri Negara truly was a wonderful experience.

My friend from United States stayed there for 5 nites. Good value as the package comes with breakfast, evening snacks, wine, dinner for two at their fine dining restaurant, afternoon tea for two at their lounge and transportation (both ways).

Overall Service
Butler service is good compared to The Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur.

Room feature
I like the room which is very spacious, good TV channel selections, free WIFI and turn down service comes with a little token such as chocolates and etc.

Restaurants
The only thing that I dislike is the dining experience at their fine dining restaurant because the servers seem like discrimate me and the other friend of mine(both of us are chinese). The server ONLY presented the menu to my US friend,basically is a foreigner!!! No smile, no greetings and no hospitaility rendered.
Therefore, we have decided not to have the afternoon tea since they don't value local customers.

It is a good place for vacation, peaceful and beautiful! But, think twice before dine at their restaurant,especially locals!

Probably the most impressive place I've ever stayed at!
Located in a KLs big park, this hotel is far away (yet pretty close) to the busy city center.
We were picked up at the airport by our personal butler, who was available to us 24 hours. Upon arrival at the Carcosa, the hotel manager was there to welcome us.
Check-in (as all as check-out) is done in the privacy of your own suite.The Carcosa has two buildings, we stayed in the newer one (still >100 years old). Everything breaths colonial and regency, the hotel, the rooms (suites), the restaurant, style, atmosphere, everything. When England's Queen visited Malaysia some time ago, this was the place she stayed at, so that gives you an idea of the local status of the place :-)

The suite we had was the smallest, but still very, very big. Very good bed, nice sitting area, with fruits, chocolates, etc waiting for us. Very well equipped suite, with everything included in the price (such as the mini bar).

The butler took us anywhere we wanted (comes with the suite...), so not being in the city center was no problem: we had transportation around the clock!

We didn't use the restaurant, but we did have the famous high tea: a must-do in KL !!

It is not cheap (according to Malaysian standards), but for some 200 euro's/night this was extremely good value for money and an experience you must have had, once in your life :-)
