I've traveled to Athens 3 times for business, and have stayed at 3 different accommodations: 1 bed & breakfast, 1 Best Western, and finally the Holiday Inn Express. By far, the Holiday Inn beat out the others. Very clean, very new (about a year old) and great room.
Athens isn't big, but the Holiday Inn is close to anything you would want to do in Athens.
Anyway, the room was very clean. Has network connection for internet service. Large room (I had the room with a king bed) and large bed with white blankets...looks much cleaner than the typical flowery fare of most other hotels. Much attention to detail...ie, while I was working on the side desk, but my back was to the TV....conveniently there was a large mirror at the desk, so I could watch TV while I was working, without having to turn around constantly. Also, the coffee pot in the breakfast area had hot coffee until at least 10pm, and I came many times to the front counter to grab a couple of the warm cookies they had there....hey, I had to stay awake to work somehow.
Also, the breakfast was great. Continental style, but instead of just breads, fruit and cereal, they also have omelettes and sausage patties. The staff was very friendly....they even gave me free toothpaste since I forgot mine.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Athens.
