I recently stayed at the brand new Holiday Inn, which is located next to the convention center (in between the Aeroclube Mall and the inland highway). If you are attending a convention, it would be a convenient place to stay but otherwise (say, if the Sofitel is full) it is not a great choice. The rooms are very small and the bathrooms are positively tiny. The plumbing is very noisy, I got up in the middle of the night because I was sure a pipe had burst in the bathroom...but it was just someone upstairs taking a shower. The location is too far to walk to the beach or anywhere other than the convention center, so if you do not have a car you will be taking cabs all the time. Parking is outside and not in a secure lot. On the plus side, the breakfast was simple but good and the rooms were clean.
