Umm, 1980 called and they want their hotel back. My mom and I stayed here for two nights and could not stop laughing about the decor. While the hotel is perfectly clean, it has not been updated in ages - I felt like I was in a time warp! But, the staff was very helpful, the garden was lovely, the breakfast buffet was great and the price was right. The hotel really does have a lot to offer, just in an old-school style! Sure, the music at the pool can get a little annoying and the Italian restaurant is so-so. But, there is literally NOTHING else to do out by the falls so this place is just fine. Eat at one of the restaurants, have drinks in the lounge, avoid falling into the sunken seating area in the lobby and return to your room to read on the balcony, crack a beer from the minibar and watch some Portugese or English language tv! The hotel is not near the falls but if you've got a tour, taxi, or private guide it's just fine since you're probably spending most of your time at the falls, not at the hotel. The Bourbon won't rock your world but we certainly were safe, happy and well fed while there.

A truly awful experience! We stayed for 3 nights over New Year & endured a hotel that was run like a holiday camp. The cheesy euro-pop styled music at the pool commenced early in the morning & did not stop till after sunset! During the day we were subjected to aqua-aerobics & various other pool based activities during which the PA system was deafening (even in the hotel rooms). If you want any peace & tranquility this hotel should be avoided at all costs.

My wife & I had to wait almost an hour for a meal & when the food arrived it wasn't even what either of us ordered.

The hotel has lots of potential as it has excellent sports facilities & beautiful gardens but at the moment it is run like a chimps tea party!

The foyer to the hotel is very impressive, beautiful white leather couches, a sunken seating area, a chandelier, but this gets your hopes up about the rooms. When you get out of the elevator the hotel is decorated in 60s/70s retro and the colours are very dark. Our room was a bit musty, the minibar fridge was very old and very noisy, just a shabby feel to things. We thought that the new tower might have the nicer bedrooms. The common areas are lovely, the bar is excellent and the buffet restaurant is very good. Breakfast buffet is also very good with an excellent choice, especially of juice and pastries. The pool area is very clean and a suntrap, there are nice walks around the hotel and the business centre has internet access.

While I was disappointed with the bedroom, the rest of the hotel was very good, but the bedrooms were certainly not five star quality.

This hotel is located centrally in the Iguacu area, however, you have to take a taxi to go anywhere. The town is 16 miles away and the aiport and the falls are even further. The hotel is not quite as nice as it's website makes it out to be. Everything is a little bit dated, but clean and in good condition. The hotel has a gym and a small heated pool inside. Outside there is an unheated larger pool and an unheated pool for children. The climbing wall is a little bit of a joke as it is only 6 f by 20 f in size. Out back is a 1 mile forest walk and a few birds in 3 cages. Our children (aged 7 and 9) really loved the hotel. They liked to swim in the freezing cold pool and to go to the hotel's kid's club. While in the kids club the person who was helping my son to rappel on the climbing wall accidentally let go and he fell on the concrete and got injured. The hotel also has a beaty parlor, soccer field and a chapel. It is worth it to include both breakfast and dinner in the roomrate, because there are no restaurants close by. Both the breakfast and dinner buffets were very good. The hotel also has an on-site Italian restaurant. If you are planning to visit the falls from both the Brazilian and Argentinian side and to go to Paraguay (Ciudad del Este) for a day trip or to do other sightseeing this hotel is a good central choice. If you are only going to the Brazilian side of the falls then it is better to stay at the hotel by the falls. The falls on the Argentinian side are much larger and you need a full day to do all the trails and to take a boat to an Island at the Argentinian side of the park. Do not miss the Argentinian side. The Brazilian side can be viewed in two hours. I think maybe 10 years ago this resort was top-notch but it needs updating. At some point they had the Brazilian soccer team as guests and for soccer fans they have a hall of fame with the famous players footprints in concrete.
