Arrived around midnight at the recently renamed hotel (so recent that the sign above the door and all internal fixtures and furnishings still referred to the Luxor).
After checking in, there was no one to assist in taking our luggage to our room. We went around the corner to catch the lift up to our floor but found no sign indicating in which direction we should go. On returning to reception they advised us to use the lift on the other side of the building (which they should have advised initially).
The room was adequate and the hotel well situated, near the southern end of Copacabana within easy walking distance of Ipanema.
Breakfast was at best average - limited and very similar each morning.
Don't get excited by the promise of a rooftop pool - it is little bigger than a hot tub.
We went into the Copacabana Palace for a quick dip - after ordering a few (expensive) drinks first they politely pointed out that the pool is for the use of hotel guests only rather than actually throwing us out. We had however passed a very pleasant couple of hours relaxing (much needed after the hectic day and nightlife in Rio) so not a problem.
