My husband and I had the wonderful experience of staying at the Lilypond guesthouse for 3 nights, during our honeymoon in June. We really wanted to stay away from crowded resorty type places and the Lilypond Guesthouse fit the bill by providing a quiet, charming and romantic ambiance while still being minutes (walking)away from wonderful restaurants, lively bars and the quiet beach of half moon bay....
Staying with Sean and Zak was like visiting and staying with old friends. It is easy to see that they love roatan and love running a B and B from the the details and special touches they thought of. Sean who was a chef and restauranteur in England , made delicious and creative breakfasts for us each morning. The B and B and the the rooms were absolutely beautiful and charming.

Infact, to show how wonderful they were to us and how much above and beyond they went to make sure we had an enjoyable visit let me share a few stories....we ended up having problems with our ATM and showed up at the Lilypond guesthouse with $3 in our pocket ...Sean immediately offered us money and when we refused they went out of their way to drive us into town so that we could try to clear up the problem...... after everything was settled they met us at a local bar where we were extertained with colorful stories about roatan and also their native England...
my husband , not being accustomed to the humidy /heat went through his clean clothes pretty quickly ....when we asked where we might be able to find a laundramatte --- Sean and Zak offered to let us use their washing machine....these were just a few extra touches that we really appreciated.
Sean and Zak were the perfect hosts and we loved our stay with them at the Lilypond --- the only thing i regret is that we didnt have more time .

“Best in Half Moon Bay, by a LONG way...”

Lily Pond Guest House

If you´re not on a traveller´s budget, or if, like me, you are but are tired of low-standard accommodation and feel like treating yourself, look no further!!

Immaculate accommodation, the most amazing hosts, great position for bars/restuarants/dive-schools (hugely recommend Coconut Tree)/massage (Chez Breezy is a must).

Lily Pond also has a rooftop verranda offers an amazing 360 degree view of the hillsides, and makes the perfect getaway for private time. With only 4 rooms available, book early and you won´t be disappointed...

“Fantastic stay at the Lily Pond”

Lily Pond Guest House

Apr 14, 2008

My wife and I stayed here for 9 days in March/April of 2008

This is a very small and personal property a bit like staying with your best friend, you quickly become one of the family.
Everything about our stay was perfect, the room, the fantastic breakfasts and the beautiful garden. Shaun & Zak were the perfect hosts full of information and great advice about the island.

Our room (top floor) was large and surrounded by windows with a large balcony. The bed was clean and very comfortable, a/c worked great and the bathroom was very spacious.

The location in just a couple of minutes walk to west end was very quiet but on the doorstep of the bars and restaurants.

When I return to Roatan then I will defiantly stay at the Lily Pond and look forward to seeing my new friends Sean, Zak, Lola (the dog) & Sid (the cat) again.

“9 days and 8 nights in Paradise”

Lily Pond Guest House

5 of 5 stars
Budapest, Hungary

The Lily Pond Guest House is like your second home, just better, because you are on holidays. The guys, Sean and Zak, the two English owners made a real dream come true in the paradise. The location is perfect; a little bit further off from the "busy" main street, in a lush, quiet garden. All shops, bars, restaurants and dive shops are easily reached on foot though. Our room, the Captain Morgan was very homey. There is a roof garden from where you can see the view you only see in travel catalogs and you can sunbath under the tropical sun.
Sean, a former chef, makes your breakfast every morning in a convenient time (this is important after couple of rum and beer infused nights). And you know what, every breakfast is a little holiday itself. Innovative, varied, tasty and beautifully presented. And plenty. The coffee's worth another column, but this is not a coffee tasting page.
You can be in your room 24 hours if you want to relax, but don't miss at least the beginning of the night in the closest pub, the Sundowners. There you can meet everybody who counts in the West End, and you don't need better introduction then this two guys. Zak even has his own cocktail creation there, named Zakattack, which you will come to love.
And don't let me forget about Lola. The cutest spaniel I have ever seen. She lives with them and she will be one of your best mates. She looks adorable at the bar, where she has her own spot. And now you have to remember this: she loves beef jerky.

“Seeing is believing and believe me it's great!”

Lily Pond Guest House

5 of 5 stars
London, Ontario
Mar 13, 2008

We spent the last two nights of our 14 night trip through Honduras at Lily Pond. It may sound like a cliche but we really did save the best for last and we had a wonderful stay on the mainland (you can read the review of the Diving Pelican Inn La Ceiba on here as well) which was equally grand.
Before we even arrived the magic that Sean weaves had started when Jim at our B&B on the mainland told us that an English gentleman had called and that he would be picking us up from the afternoon ferry when we arrived back on Roatan.
Sean was waiting for us and we piled our dive gear and heaps of luggage into his truck and away we went to Lily Pond.
The power had been on and off all week so there were candles placed all around the room and the image of Lily Pond at night with the candles was almost poetic.
Sean got us sorted out in the room, and the room's are grand and very comfortable, and gave us some great suggestions for dinner and made sure we were settled in comfortably.
The power outages while a minor nuisance had little impact on our stay and Sean is well prepared for this. You may want to take a flashlight with you or ask Sean if you don't have one (I believe he calls it a torch...lol).
The next morning we awoke to a huge breakfast with more food than I could eat in a sitting complete with home made pastries and lime curd and that pretty much held us until dinner that evening.
The property is very well situated in a quiet corner just a stones throw from West End and you really have to see it to believe it.
The three resident pets, Sid and Morgan the cats and Lola the spaniel add to the already tranquil vibe.
There is a great rooftop patio for sunning or chillin' and the rooms are huge and well appointed with all the little things that so many other places miss.
Sean has some obvious talent in both the kitchen and the hospitality biz in general. His past experience shows through in spades.
I had hoped to get a haircut from Zak the day we were leaving but timing and the power outages conspired such that it will have to wait for a return trip.
Sean had a special treat for breakfast on our last morning and even took time out of his day to drop us at the airport (I had to force him to take some gas money and bear in mind the trip to come get us at the ferry was probably over an hour round trip for him plus waiting for us and the trip to the airport at least 20 minutes one way).
Whether you are just on vacation to relax or want to dive with one of the many fine shops on West End strip the Lily Pond is a natural choice for the best stay on Roatan.
Your hosts go above and beyond and will do whatever they can to make your stay as memorable as possible.
If you are coming down to stay it might be a good idea to ask if there is some small thing they are in need of you can bring down (in my case it was mixed peppercorns) and bring some books to leave for other travelers to read.
If you have any questions that Sean can't answer drop me a line.
