We had the pleasure of visiting the Bocas over Thanksgiving and what a wonderful surprise! We really didn't expect too much on the island given its primitive description, but found that Bahia del Sol offers every amenity of a 5 star hotel and much much more, including posturepedic beds and full rich pillows, plush lovely towels and ambiance in every room. But more than the physical structure, the proprietors of Bahia del Sol truly make the stay unforgettable. Charming and generous they have gone to extensive lengths to make their inn wonderfully peaceful and private, while providing each and every guest personal care and attention without ever encroaching on guests' privacy.

Bahia del Sol offers its guests the most luxurious accomodations on the island. We stayed in the master suite which has a private jacuzzi tub outside on the balcony. The owners have created a rich ambiance in the bedroom with candles and tea lights to make this room with a full view of Saigon Bay one of the most romantic spots on the planet. A comprable room in a major hotel would run 5 times the amount they charge.

It was so easy to get to town from Bahia del Sol on foot, bikes, boat or taxi and yet it is just sufficiently away from town center to be peaceful. The deck offers hammocks for reading, lounging and cocktail hour and the beach is just across the walk.

Marni and Lawrence took us on an amazing boat tour of the srurrounding islands showing us the best surf spots right from the boat. We went snorkling and sent us with lunch - we're talking a full spread with fresh homemade salsa and hummus, cheeses, veggies and fruit. Scurfing in Saigon Bay (a cross between wakeboarding and surfing) is a great activity before dinner. There's enough to do if you're looking to do, and so much space to relax and enjoy the sun and read a book.

Marni is a wonderful cook and prepares everything using fresh ingredients she buys at the local market every morning.
