I booked this hotel after checking out trip advisor .we wanted a whole romantic old world experience different from the likes of singapore where we started our holiday .Hotel Puri was everything it advertised and more .Its the perfect quaint heritage house ,in the old part of thecity, beautifully restored and amazing helpful and friendly staff. The room had everything we wanted and was beautifully done .The best part of it was the price ,everything was very reasonable .will be back there for sure

“Love the location”

Hotel Puri

We stayed in this hotel in early of january this year. We do enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Especially the look of the building and the location (after 1/2 hour lost searching the hotel).

Location - Right behind this hotel is Jonker Street and not so far from Stadhuys' building. At night, the town look great with the red spotlight lit up the building.

Check-in process - We wish they should have smile more on their face (after tiring driving 4 hours from Selangor). At least we feel more welcome. They provided car jockey for the customer. So we no need to crack our head to find the parking and spend on ticketing.

Room - The only thing a bit annoyed us, the sound of air-cond compressor. It will be great if the can relocate the compressor a bit far from the room. The tv in the room is not really an eye catching for us. 21" screen seem to small for us to enjoy our night after whole day tiring walk around the city. Well, is not a big deal for us. And yes, they do have a safety box in the room. One of the feature we look forward to have in the room.

The hotel restaurant is good. Having a breakfast next to water pond/fountain right outside of the restaurant is really mind relaxing. They should provide the wifi spot in this hote or at least at the restaurant area.

After all, the hotel is valued for the money..

“A Lovely Stay!!”

Hotel Puri

What we were looking for: an overnight hotel in Melaka, comfortable & pleasant, with parking lot, good reviews and reasonable price that wont empty our pockets. Hotel Puri has it all!

While I was searching for a hotel online my husband commented that Hotel Puri looks spooky but his first impressions didn't last as we entered this lovely hotel that is placed quite near to the attractions we were planning to visit. Sadly despite it being near to Jonker Walk it was closed due to the public holiday during our visit. The staff were all very helpful as they allowed us for an early check-in. Provided a bathtub for our baby since our room didnt have one.

The parking was secured but we were a bit embarrased since you always need the security guard to open and close the garage door. So when we left a few things in the car we didn't bother.

The room was spacious and comfortable enough. We added an extra bed for my mom since it was just a night's stay and more of our plans were outdoor. Still we didn't feel cramped in the room. There was some mosquitos that bit the baby in the room though. =( The furnitures were all antique but it was complete with the basic amenities

The hotel's rustic look matches the historic and well preserved Melaka. It's definitely part of the experience staying here rather than a 5 star typical hotel. We were pleased with our choice! Thanks as well to the reviews we read here.

The food was just okay but I'm just not sure if we stayed more days if we will not get tired of it. We'd love to come back again and stay a few more days next time!

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — rustic style that matches Melaka perfectly & the very nice hotel staff
    • Disliked — accessbility of parking was too dependent on the guard & mosquito in the room

“Good Value”

Hotel Puri

Stayed in superior room on 21 March 2008. Like others said, it is a lovely historical hotel (3 star). Good location but nothing spectaculer on the room. You get what you paid, I will choose a deluxe instead of superior because superior is small but it is OK for 1 night. Room and bathroom is clean and comfortable. Location is quite OK. Staff relatively friendly and helpful, breakfast is good for its class. No lift so whenever possible ask for lower floor. There is no offer for carrying my father bag, while he is 66 years old and our room on the 1st floor. Use the back stairs, the front is very steep. There is a nice garden and cafe

Dec 2007 I stayed at Equatorial hotel (5 star) which is twice the price of the same room type. In term value of the money, I must say I a little toward Equatorial. So for next time, I will stay at Equatorial and visit Puri for lunch or dinner
