My husband, 13 year old daughter and I decided we were going to give this a try. First let me start off by saying that I am a little bit afraid of heights. The trip starts out with a tram taking you up a mountain thru a huge rain forest. The trees are gi-normously tall! As we reached the tallest platform we would be zip-lining from, my daughter and I were obviously nervous. If it hadn't been for some of the younger children in the group I might have bailed :]. My daughter ended up having to go with a quia (guide) because she only weighed 82 pounds and would not have made the next platform on her own, which was fine with her! She had a great time anyway and her guide was cute she said :). When it was my turn, I took off the platform and at first I was nervous but then it was an unbelievable experience. I didn't feel scared at all and could not believe how beautiful everything looked. I was literally flying hundreds of feet ABOVE the rain forest. It was amazing. The guides were all extremely professional and very funny which put everyone at ease. There had to be about 24 of us in the group and they moved us pretty efficiently and safely down each length of the zip. All in all I think there were 6 zip with the longest one lasting about 28 seconds. It was one of the most amazing experiences and a highlight of our trip. I had spoken to a couple of families that had "zipped" in other parts of Costa Rica and said that this company was top notch.

We were in Arenal (La Fortua) a few weeks ago and booked the Sky Tram/Sky Trek tour. It has a beautiful staging area with a magnificent view of the jungle. Our guide explained in detail what to expect, a person can ride the tram up and back or opt to include the zip line, canopy portion. I can say hands down it was one of the most thrilling zip lines I have done. The guides were professional and fun. I was very impressed with how well constructed the zip line cables and trams appeared to be. The longest one was 1/2 mile long and 600 feet high with a awesome view of the volcano and Lake Arenal. We are a couple in our 50's, travelling with our daughter and son-in-law in their 30's. My husband has a fear of heights, was not sure he would be able to do it, but went ahead and had a heart stopping great time. Talk about an exciting rush!

We just came back from CR and had the most amazing trip. The highlight for our group of 15 would undoubtedly be the SkyTrek zipline. Right from the beginning, they made us feel safe and were very clear on instructing us as to what to expect and how to hold the pulley handle. A few of us were nervous (especially on #3, when it's over 450 m long and at least 150 m above the rainforest floor). However, they 'piggybacked' a few people for the first couple of runs until we were more comfortable and then by the end, everyone was flying by themselves. #7 was perhaps the most exhilarating. We reached speeds of 65 mph and it was over 700 m long. INCREDIBLE! Anyway, we can't say enough positive things about the guides and never did we feel uncomfortable about our safety. I am recommending SkyTrek in Arenal to everyone and if you're going to Costa Rica, then it's a 'must do' on your list.

The Sky Tram/Trek tour was fantastic. It was $66 per person and worth every penny. Don’t wear clothes that you’re really attached to because if it’s raining, you will get dirty. I just threw away the clothes I wore because I couldn’t get the stains out. If you have a small camera (and have a place to secure it), go ahead and take it with you. We took turns taking pictures of each other and the guides actually took a couple of us, too.
