I see lots of Americans and Canadians recommending Avispa Tours. I am British and had read these reports before going on holiday. My husband is slightly disabled and so the idea of just the two of us on a trip where we would not inconvenience other people appealed to us. We were willing and happy to pay over the odds for this. I arranged with Amy to do a trip , designed it to our own specifications and time scale (as it says you can do on the Avispa website) and Amy e-mailed back agreeing to this with an agreed price for just two people on the trip. However, when we got there it turned out she would only take at least 8 people in one of their mini buses. You also had to go at the time they wanted - not what you wanted (again regardless of what it said on her website). No way would she take just the two of us, regardless of the agreement we had made - and she was also operating from America not Costa Rica as we were led to believe. The other word of warning is that the hotel will not allow Avispa onto the premises and you have to go outside of the hotel and wait on the road to be picked up and dropped off. Needless to say I cancelled all trips with her.
Just beware that if you book beforehand and come from Britain you might not get what you expect.
