Just returned from a week long vacation at Los Altos de Eros...it was really everything we hoped it would be. We had planned to be quite busy with day trips and so forth, but got so comfortable just relaxing, that we ended up staying on the grounds for most of the trip..not a bad place to hang out for sure!

We loved our afternoon trips to the beach, hanging out by the pool with the other guests (all of whom were friendly, funny and great to be around..) We were entertained by Josh's stories, impromptu games of twister ("is that a man's hand???"), watching "wildlife reality tv", eating some great food and washing it down with Imperial beer and Chilena wine. The staff, as others have mentioned, were gracious and kind..the perfect blend of discretion and familiarity.

A few things for guests to keep in mind: bring the phone number of the hotel with you when you travel, just in case there are any mix-ups (we send our huge thanks to the people of CR who were so helpful to us when we arrived), light sleepers may want to bring a sleep mask (I found the rooms a bit bright at night, but I am a light sleeper)..non-early risers may want to book the King rooms or the suite (Queen rooms close to the dining area can be noisy in the early morning as staff prepare breakfast). This is a rather remote location, so wildlife does appear, sometimes in surprising ways..keep an open mind about this.

All and all, a truly lovely vacation spot with beautiful scenary, great staff and fun "house mates". I will miss the costa rican "gravy" at meals, watching Mike and Mike duke it out over the last creme brule. talking yoga with Jim and Allison...and much more!

Imagine paradise, if you will.....
Arriving in Costa Rica to a 110-degree temperature change was a welcomed jolt to the senses. But even that did not come close to the unexpected warmth and welcome that enveloped us during our two weeks at Los Altos de Eros -- yes TWO weeks of decadent bliss.
It was such a perfect escape that we were decidedly content to spend our days simply slipping into the pool, reading, walking the country roads, and watching the incredible sunsets while the monkeys played in the treetops.
The food is healthful, beautifully presented, and offers the very best in Costa Rican cuisine. Our day in the spa: a gift for body and soul.... The river tour: unforgettable....
We will carry with us the smiles and genuine warmth of the staff. There was never a request unanswered or a need unanticipated....even to the Kleenex passed to me at goodbye.
We hope to return to worship at the beautiful new St. Mary Church in Tamarindo where a replica of Michaelangelo Buonarroti's Pieta will soon take its place (commissioned from China master sculptors by a US benefactor). There we will continue to give thanks for the beautiful country, the beautiful people, and Los Altos de Eros.

We did a "take-over" the week of January 14th. My wife and I, along with 4 other couples who are good friends from college went on the trip of a lifetime. We had no experience with Costa Rica, so everything was new, even though we've done the "canned" resorts in Jamaica and Mexico. You just can't compare Los Altos to any other type of vacation.

I won't go on and on about what every day consisted of, but I'll spend the space here to compliment Calvin and the staff. From the wonderful meals, beautiful facility, top-notch service (the staff went beyond the definition of "world class" service), to the sunset massage, Jaqueline's 3.5 mile hike to get the day started, and the many activities in the area. I highly recommend that you do the day trip for the mud bath, horse ride, and the zip line. You'll probably never have a zip line experience anywhere else in the world.

We felt at home at Los Altos De Eros. Calvin and the staff made sure that things were the way you wanted it. In fact, we were lucky enough to be there when they were named best luxury and best service. The interesting thing was they try very hard to make this your dream vacation, and they certainly succeed! If you have a group of friends, and are looking for that next trip, this is the place to go. We truly had a blast, and will hopefully someday return.

The only disappointment in the whole trip was returning home, where we were greeted -20F temps.....110 degrees difference is hard to get used to!

Los Altos de Eros is absolutely amazing. To be honest, my wife and I had very high expectations after reading all of these reviews, but this place still exceeded all of them. From the moment we arrived and were met at the airport with cold beers, we knew that this was a special place.

We stayed here for 10 days and loved every minute of it. We had adventures, we had relaxing days, and we had a few parties, among many other things. A common theme among these reviews (with the exception of a few) is that everyone seems to enjoy the company of the other guests; this was no different for us. We met a number of couples that we have stayed in touch with and will continue to stay in touch with.

Calvin and Jacqueline are great hosts and they have put together an amazing staff that will take care of everything you need, including doing your laundry every day which is a nice perk. The food is absolutely amazing; we went to Tamarindo a couple of times to eat, but we were disappointed both times in comparison to what we ate at the hotel. Tamarindo in general is a disappointment, but there really is no reason to go there.

I have traveled all over the world and Los Altos de Eros is hands down the most well run hotel that I have ever stayed at. Their #1 ranking in the world that they just received is extremely well deserved.
