I went and stayed for ten days at Witch's Rock Surf Camp and had a wonderful time. Everyone was extremely friendly and easy to get along with. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. This was my first time ever in Costa Rica and I honestly can't wait to plan my next trip back.

The surf instructors were extremely helpful and I was able to learn to start surfing much faster than I would have expected. They had us up on our boards on the first day. The daily yoga classes were another bonus. I really enjoyed stretching out after a long day and was pleased that there was an evening class open to everyone with a wonderful instructor.

Great that you had an awesome time. Hilarious about the toilet paper huh? Construction in Costa Rica is not quite as sound as in North America.
Most 3rd world countries you can not flush toilet paper down the tubes.

See you again hopefully,

This was our second stay at Witch´s Rock Surf Camp and it was just as awesome as the first. The rooms are really nice and have a lot of character. The camp is kept very clean and the staff is super helpful. The restaurant bar is the perfect happy hour spot to meet up with friends and fellow guests. I recommend the "nachos as big as your ass" they´re perfect after a day of surfing. The camp is centrally located near a handful of great surfing beaches. The instructors and surf guides know their stuff and are happy to share their passion for surfing with visitors. If you are looking for a surf adventure WRSC is the way to go. They´ll take care of all the planning to ensure you have safe and memorable experience in Costa Rica.

I am just wrapping up a week long trip to Witch's Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. I am an adult female traveling with my father. We take a surf trip annually, and we found Witch's Rock on the internet. We thought this would be a good way to see a little of what surfing Costa Rica is like. We are very pleased with our experience here. This is a great "all inclusive" experience. The accommodations are quite good, the surfing tours are varied, well organized and executed, and there is plenty of great equipment here to save having to transport your own. The food in the hotel restaurant is great and reasonably priced. I was so pleased to find that the camp offered yoga classes while we were here. There are many activities to keep non-surfing family members busy as well.

Most telling is that the staff here are wonderful. They are welcoming, friendly, warm, and helpful. They put everyone at ease and accommodate all skill levels, catering to everyone in your party, from beginners to experts. The guides and teachers are excellent, as well as the management, hotel, and restaurant staff.

This was a very personal experience. We got to meet and befriend many other travelers on our surfing tours. If you come here solo, you will have no problem finding all kinds people to socialize with, surf with, and go out on the town with. I would most definitely come here again.

WOW WHAT A PLACE!!!! Tamarindo by itself is a great place to visit. This was my 2nd time to Tamarindo, 5th time in Costa Rica, and FIRST time to Witches Rock. This place is amazing. The service is first-rate and the staff is second to none. As a new surfer, the staff is excellent from getting you to get used to a board to actually riding legitimate waves within a week. For more advanced surfers, they have tons of trips to all the best surf spots in Northwest Costa Rica.

The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the resort has everything you need. Easy beach access, full line of boards to rent, great food, and awesome sushi! Most importantly the staff is very attentive to all your needs to make sure you are happy, all your expectations are met, and you learn to surf. Let's put it this way, most of the people we met have been here before. Needless to say I am definitely coming back again and again to this place.

“Great Experience”

Witch's Rock Surf Camp

About me: First time to a Central/South American beach and first time to a surf camp. Solo traveller. Experienced surfer.

The rooms: Basic but clean. Private bath with soap and shampoo provided. Towels and linens provided. Thermostat controlled A/C in all rooms. Keyed or combination room safe. Some rooms have telephones and balconies, most have ocean views.

The property: Located on main thoroughfare. Bar/restaurant, surf shop, surfboard storage, pool, pay phone, and front desk on first floor. Most rooms on second floor. 24-hour security.

What you get: Room, breakfast (order off the menu), daily surf lessons or surf tour, use of surfboards.

Surf tours: 1-2 tours a day to local surf spots. Time of tour depends upon tide, often best at mid to high tide. Often limited to 4 people, excluding the guide and driver. Driver stays with the van at all times so your valuables are safe.

Surf boards: Broad range of NSP epoxy surfboards. Beautiful fiberglass surfboards had just arrived and were available for rent. Lots of local surf shops, some of which (banana surf club) have good rental boards for more experienced surfers.

What I liked: Room was better than expected. A/C was quiet. Easy to meet other guests -- groups typically meet up for dinner and drinks. Staff are very nice. Free shuttle from Tamarindo airport. Hotel coordinates activities -- trip to rodeo, canopy tour, etc. Garlic shrimp and dorado at Pedro's.

What I didn't like: Price could be a little more reasonable. Website contains limited information but staff are pretty responsive to emails. Some road noise -- can make it difficult to sleep. Tamarindo is transitioning from a sleepy beach town to a premier tourist destination -- lots of construction, small shops being replaced by larger shops, some aggressive street vendors, etc.

My recommendation: Book it for the experience of surfing in Costa Rica and spending time with other people at the camp.

Hi Protrade,

Thanks for the great reviews. I know it is a littel late, but I really never knew we could respond, if I would have know earlier :-(

So thank you again for the great resonses. The TIki Rooms are a little small and they do have a bit more noise in them, but since you are a return guest, next time you can get the bigger rooms ad more quiet for abetter price.

We have also brought our prices down since your last visit due to the economy now.

Hope to meet you on your next visit to WRSC!
