About me: First time to a Central/South American beach and first time to a surf camp. Solo traveller. Experienced surfer.
The rooms: Basic but clean. Private bath with soap and shampoo provided. Towels and linens provided. Thermostat controlled A/C in all rooms. Keyed or combination room safe. Some rooms have telephones and balconies, most have ocean views.
The property: Located on main thoroughfare. Bar/restaurant, surf shop, surfboard storage, pool, pay phone, and front desk on first floor. Most rooms on second floor. 24-hour security.
What you get: Room, breakfast (order off the menu), daily surf lessons or surf tour, use of surfboards.
Surf tours: 1-2 tours a day to local surf spots. Time of tour depends upon tide, often best at mid to high tide. Often limited to 4 people, excluding the guide and driver. Driver stays with the van at all times so your valuables are safe.
Surf boards: Broad range of NSP epoxy surfboards. Beautiful fiberglass surfboards had just arrived and were available for rent. Lots of local surf shops, some of which (banana surf club) have good rental boards for more experienced surfers.
What I liked: Room was better than expected. A/C was quiet. Easy to meet other guests -- groups typically meet up for dinner and drinks. Staff are very nice. Free shuttle from Tamarindo airport. Hotel coordinates activities -- trip to rodeo, canopy tour, etc. Garlic shrimp and dorado at Pedro's.
What I didn't like: Price could be a little more reasonable. Website contains limited information but staff are pretty responsive to emails. Some road noise -- can make it difficult to sleep. Tamarindo is transitioning from a sleepy beach town to a premier tourist destination -- lots of construction, small shops being replaced by larger shops, some aggressive street vendors, etc.
My recommendation: Book it for the experience of surfing in Costa Rica and spending time with other people at the camp.

Hi Protrade,
Thanks for the great reviews. I know it is a littel late, but I really never knew we could respond, if I would have know earlier :-(
So thank you again for the great resonses. The TIki Rooms are a little small and they do have a bit more noise in them, but since you are a return guest, next time you can get the bigger rooms ad more quiet for abetter price.
We have also brought our prices down since your last visit due to the economy now.
Hope to meet you on your next visit to WRSC!
Shawna
