Ok. so there are tons of excursions to choose from when you get to Costa Rica. But don't wait to book this one. You might get left out on the one trip where you will experience the sights, sounds and smells of the real Costa Rica. There are plenty of excursions that show you sights, but this one is in an open-aired jeep that allows you to take it all in! Our trip began by Ted, the owner, picking us up at our hotel which was somewhat out-of-the-way, but he was very eager to accomodate us. We met up with Rose, our guide and her riding partner/mechanic, freddie. I must first tell you that if there is anything you'd like to know about Costa Rica, Ted will tell you and Rose can show you!! We started off first thing by putting the jeeps in 4 wheel drive and getting vertical up a beachside cliff for some spectacular views. Then, we went pedal to the metal through rivers and ditches in the jungle for some "monkeying around". There were plenty of monkeys to greet us along the way. We stopped briefly for a snack and the snack choices were cookies or termites. YES TERMITES! They taste like peanuts, not chicken. After that, we went to the canopy which is a total rush. Rose took our camera and got some pics of us on the zipline. She's really great about getting the action shots. We worked up an appetite, so we went back to the coast for luch at Lola's on the beach. And when i say on the beach, I mean 30ft from the water. It was great. We insisted our guides join us, on us. I recommend everyone treat the guides to lunch. You can learn alot during this time for conversation. Then, Rose gave us options on how to spend the rest of the day. We opted to see more beaches, especially secluded ones. This was a great choice because it was the season for sea turtles to lay eggs. We saw several turtles and tracks leading to nests in the sand. Probably will never see that in person again. We just had an awesome day!! These guys make every effort possible for you to get the most of you experience, so each trip is not the same. we went in december at the end of the wet season, so there was not as much mud as usual. But they managed to give us an experience that will always be one of the best of our lives.
