We stayed here for two nights on Jan 19th and Jan 25th based on Tripadvisor reviews, and we weren't let down! This B&B was fabulous! Our room was spacious (king sized bed) and homey. The property itself overlooks San Jose and the view is wonderful. They will arrange a driver to meet you at the airport so you don't have to deal with getting a taxi and their drivers all speak english, just request one ahead of time when you book. They are also happy to arrange for a taxi to take you to dinner, lunch, shopping, tours etc. If you decide to order in, they will also order for you and set up their dining room table (with the fantastic view!) for you to eat. Breakfast is also awesome, you usually have your choice of two types of breakfast. All ingredients are fresh (eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit etc.) and very tasty. We felt well cared for and this was a wonderful way to both start and end our stay in Costa Rica!

Extremely charming B&B/inn, but the service we received was more like a big hotel. They could not have been more helpful. They went out of their way everyday to make our stay wonderful. Really a great place. We highly recommend it.

We stayed at this hotel on the first day we arrived at San Jose on Dec. 12th, and the on the last two days of our stay in CR, Dec. 16th and Dec. 17th. My husband an I loved the "at home" feel of this hotel, felt very cozy. Hotel provided free Wi-Fi as long as you had your computer with you, which was no problem since we had our laptop with us. They have a beautiful hilltop view of the city, and the also have a very well kept garden. The complimentary breakfast was very delicious, specially the Macadamian pancakes and the guava jam is to die for!! The Costa Rican Style breakfast was also delicious. We did the Best of Costa Rica tour which was well worth it!! If you plan to stay here, don't miss eating at La Cazona, a local restaurant that serves tipical Costa Rican food and its very inexpensive. We also recommend Mil Sabores if you are into a mix of Chinese and Costa Rican food, and always make sure if you are taking taxis that they have a meter, that way you can see how much they are charging you because some of them don't have one even though they are government approved. We are definitely going to miss Jose and Alcides at the front desk, Miguel for keeping us safe at night, Hernan and Jorge for the transportation service that they've provided and the rest of the wonderful staff at La Posada who have been very courteous and friendly, always attentive to all of our needs and giving us suggestions as to what to do in CR. Thanks also to Dick, the proprietor of The Posada for opening this wonderful place and providing us with great customer service!

“Great place to stay outside the city”

Posada El Quijote

We booked Posada El Quijote after reading reviews on Tripadvisor and we were not disappointed. Although it is outside San Jose, it is in a great location on the hill overlooking the city. We stay in the ordinary room for one night when we arrived then returned at the end of our trip and stayed in one of the superior rooms. Both were very good.
The Posada arranged our taxi transfers to and from the airport (it takes 20 mins) plus taxis to a local restaurant and a lunchtime take out from a local fast food outlet.
It felt a safe place to stay and the staff (both before we arrived and during our stay) were very friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately we were unable to try to breakfasts which people have said are excellent as we had to leave around 5.30 on both mornings but the wake up call and taxis both came on time. We would definitely recommend staying here if you want a quiet safe place rather than a place in downtown San Jose.
My only minor gripe (and it is minor) is that the price included breakfast which we missed twice because of early departures. It would have been nice if they had reduced the price slightly but despite my hints they did not nor did they offer a boxed breakfast as an alternative.

“Perfect San Jose place”

Posada El Quijote

Overall: A fantastic place to stay when you arrive and depart from Costa Rica. If San Jose is your destination, then I would think that this is your palce.

Service: Excellent. They were able to arrange our transportation from Mal Pais to Escazu when our hotel in Mal Pais, Moana Lodge, was not able to do so. We wanted a private shuttle for the long trip to make our last days worry free and Posada El Quijote delivered.

Property: Beautiful place with an incredible view of San Jose. Breakfast was included but we used there dining table to have dinner while look at the lights in the city for our last dinner in Costa Rica.

Room: Very clean and ample hot water. Not much of a view but the rest of the place was so nice with there cozy sitting room, patio, and well kept facilities.

Food: We left too early to catch our departing plane.
