“One of the best”

We have recently returned from a six night stay at the Cape Cadogan Hotel in Cape Town. We decided to spend the whole of our short trip in and around Cape Town this time and we were not disappointed. The location of the hotel is excellent for all the "must sees" and it is close to a variety of good restaurants, many within walking distance.
We stayed in a luxury room, which was a good size with a large balcony and overlooked the plunge pool and courtyard at the side. Only one small suggestion would be to have some more comfortable chairs on the balcony. The shower was huge with two shower heads and good toiletries.
Breakfasts were a treat with a good buffet and a hot selection freshly cooked to order. Everything in and about the Cape Cadogan is beautifully presented and puts many of the large 5*s in the shade! Little details like the willingness to bring tea or coffee at any time and the port, nibbles and chocolates laid out in the lounge every evening make a real difference.
Best of all was the delightful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. They arranged trips, taxis, transfers, restaurants very efficiently. Housekeeping was brilliant. All in all we really couldn't fault this hotel and would definitely return. Our friends who live in Cape Town were so impressed that they intend to use the hotel to accommodate overspill visitors too.
Thank you to all at the Cape Cadogan for a wonderful trip.

We arrived after a5 night stay in the constantia region and thought a hotel in the heart of the city would be nice for a change. What a great choice we made. The hotel is situated just off Kloof Street at one end, with a supermarket and Pharmacy just over the other side of the road.We were giving a great welcome from the staff and given room number 8 (see attached pics) it was a great room with a small balcony to one side to watch the sunrise or sunset over Table Mountain, the double shower was great also the twin washbasins were a useful addition.Breakfast was fantastic with a choice of cold or hot food and in a delightful setting. The complimentary Sherry in the room was a nice touch and this could also be taken in the drawing room if you wanted.Liesel,Stretton and Yusuf could not have been more helpful in offering great advice from everything from directions to car hire.Overall we enjoyed our stay so much and cant wait to return

“Beware Cape Cadogan”

My wife & I booked Cape Cadogan hotel in Cape Town based on what we saw on the internet. It claims to "Bohemian chic" with 12 luxuriously appointed en suite bedrooms.

We were given room 7.

What we found is that it is in a busy street with quite alot of traffic noise. The bedroom furnishings looked as though they were cheap flat packs. But worse of all was the bathroom facilities. These were in a boxed off corner of the room built from cheap painted wood with frosted glass. around 2 sides and cheap louvred doors. This meant no privacy in the bathroom.

Breakfast was the worse we had in South Africa with the "Fresh Fruit" looking as though it was left over from the day before. It was mushy.

I would not advise anyone to go to the Cape Cadogan and particularly to stay in room 7.

Dear Mr Brown

Thank you for your feedback and we are truly apologetic that we did not meet your expectations. It is unfortunate that you only posted photographs of a closed door and a cupboard and did not show readers the rest of the bedroom!

All of our cupboards were hand made by a reputable furniture company in Cape Town and we created a frosted glass environment in the bathroom as we like to provide as much light into the bathroom as possible.

I personally believe the balcony of room 7 provides a beautiful private setting overlooking the trendy vibey street we're located on.

I would also like to address the issue of the poor breakfast. Our breakfast buffet is prepared daily and fresh fruit is provided to our guests. I think our breakfasts speak for themselves if you read other reviews from guests who have stayed at our hotel.
Perhaps the hotel was not best suited for you and we accept that a historic boutique hotel, like ours, is not to everyones liking.

I trust the full refund you received from us compensates for your disappointment and I hope the rest of your stay in South Africa was a memorable one.

Best Regards,

Peter John Scott

“Fantastic Boutique Hotel”

The Cape Cadogan

I stayed at the Cape Cadogan for 4 nights with my wife and our 21 month old daughter. Even though the hotel has a no children(under 8) policy - they were extremely accommodating and put us in the Owner's Villa.

The Villa is located next to the hotel and is amazing. It is almost as big as my flat in London. We had our own kitchen, lounge, pool, BBQ and dining room.

The quility of the Villa rivals any 5* hotel I've stayed in - anywhere.
There was not a single detail we could find fault with.

Because children are not allowed in the main building - although they never stopped our little one from running around everywhere - breakfast was brought to us in the Villa everymorning - in addition to providing us with a fully stocked fridge. Their muffins are to die for.

Stretton and Liesl are absolutely brilliant managers/hosts. They bent over backwards to make our stay enjoyable - from organizing baby sitters to pulling strings into getting us dinner bookings. I can't say enough positive things about them.

The hotel itself is perfectly situated to every site in Cape Town. We even walking down to the V&A Waterfront. It's a3 minute drive to the cable cars at Table Mountain and a 15 minute drive to Camps Bay.

We almost never travel to the same city twice - but we will definitely be back to Cape Town and will most assuredly stay at The Cape Cadogan!
