“Grand King, great location, rooms need renovating”

Grand King Hotel

2 of 5 stars
Normandy Park, Washington
Feb 3, 2008

Grand King is an excellent location for your stay in Buenos Aires. It is at the intersection of the two pedestrian streets of LaValle & Florida. The staff was very nice, the lobby was nice, breakfast was good, the price ($51USD/nt., we got an internet special) was excellent. The rooms need revovated with new carpets, walls needed painted, and new mattresses on the beds. The rooms were very quiet.

I would have been willing to spend more per night if the rooms had been in better condition.

“I would not send my worst enemy here!!!!!!!”

Grand King Hotel

Wellington
Dec 18, 2007

This was by far and away the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Right from the forst minute that we got here it was terrible.

We have had a little misfortune and have had to stay in BA for a few extra nights more than we planned and so we tried to find somewhere that was central and we knew. We happened to stumble across The Grand King on Wotif. ´

After checking into our room, which I might add was an absolute disgrace, we were called up by reception and told that we had to check out at 12pm the next day. I advised that we knew this and that was ok. The room advertised cable tv, there was no cable tv. The room advertised a minibar, they would not give us the key for the mini bar. They advertised a business centre, the PCs did not work. The room said that it came with breakfast, they wanted to charge us for breakfast. This is just a few that I can rememer.

When we decided to get out of our dive of a room, we were told down at reception that we would have to check out of our room at 11am the next day. I thought at this stage, if I could get my money back I would check out now.

So there is a positive. Its on Lavelle street which is full of shopping, tasty restaurants and other touristy things to do.

So as the title says I wouldn´t send my worst enemy to this hotel.

Just home from a wonderful stay in Buenos Aires. Grand King Hotel
is a comfortable hotel. Foyer and landings in top condition. Bedrooms and bathroom could do with a makeover. Breakfast excellent. Hotel is very well located for shopping and restaurants.
Patrizio the concierge is extremely helpful and friendly.
Hope to visit Buenos Aires again. Will definitely stay at the Grand King. Thanks for wonderful service. P.S could you fly the Irish flag with the flags from other countries.

“Small hotel in the very heart of the city”

Grand King Hotel

While the Hotel Grand King, at the intersection of the pedestrian streets Lavalle and Florida does not live up to its alleged 4 star rating, it has a lot of pluses that to me more than made up for its obvious minuses. I booked this hotel in an Orbitz flight/hotel package for a very modest cost. And it was a modest hotel. I probably had the worst room because of this booking arrangement but it was perfectly okay. It was cramped and faded in decor, but clean and very quiet and the bathroom was large, well lighted and everything worked fine. The lobby was fine, staff helpful and the breakfasts were plenty adequate.

The treat was the location and when it comes to a city as diverse as BsAs this location was perfect because all you had to do was walk out the door and the city was alive and waiting to invite you in. It was close to two different subway line stations and in walking distance to Teatro Colon. The two pedestrian streets had everything you needed for shopping or food.

And short walks in either directions to the ends of the pedestrial malls took you to much of what you wanted to see in this fabulous city, with only a minor contact with its notorious traffic.

Expect very modest rooms, or try their VIP upgraded rooms, lower your expectations (I have paid more for less in London) and celebrate picking a hotel that could not be better located and hit the ground running getting to know the very heart of this city.
