“Best place away from home. Period.”
Being for business or pleasure, I spend ca. 60% -70% of my time in hotels. I can say without hesitation that my week-plus stay at the Casa Palermitano was the best home-away-from-home experience I've ever had.
You are greeted by a long staircase, that lead you to Lorena and her 5 rooms. Big, airy rooms, giving you the old times flair but with immaculate modern times facilities. You always expect TV and air conditioning, and you certainly get them here, but you also get huge and shiny new bathrooms and truly comfortable beds, not to mention wireless DSL for free, all over the place.
The breakfast is a chapter in itself. At the Palermitano, orange juice is made for you direcly on the spot- something you don't easily find at the most sophisticated hotels. Pastries, marmelades, and dulce de leche, cheese and ham. And if you are up to it, you can have all this washed down with mate (disclaimer: though I live in Germany, I am uruguayan: mate and "facturas",those argentinean pastries, are my dream of a perfect breakfast.)
And finally, Lorena and her crew go to all extremes to ensure your overall stay is a success. From getting you a cab, to waiting for late arrivals -or waking up for early departures, as in my case!- you name it, they make sure you get it. Lorena even facilitated my last night stay, even being that there were no rooms available!
And when I think that for a full 8 day stay, I payed what in Europe would get me two nights on an annoying corporate cubicle -and that most likely without breakfast nor WiFi.... it is hard to think of a better place to stay.
Come in alone or with the family. Palermitano *is* as good as all those reviews. Even better, I'd say.
