I'm so glad I took a full day to see the Argentina side of Foz Iguazu two weeks ago. I was blown away by the power & majesty of the Argentine Falls, moreso than the Brazil side. The entire parkland here is quiet: no huge mob of pushy (literally) tour groups block your passage like on the Brazil side. Here, we got REALLY close to the water and a better sense of its power & majesty, making the experience more 'present'. From the park's entrance you take a little train - like in a kiddie park - to the Falls' walkway - it's a walk.... The walkway itself is composed of metal grates, so you get terrific views of the multicolored butterflies (bright orange, blue, red & yellow ). If you stay still a few seconds, one will light on your arm or hat! If you're lucky, you'll see alligators basking on the rocks - don't worry, they're too far away to bite; even the butterflies were resting on the nose(?) of one 'gator. The BEST part of the day was down a steep path of mostly uneven, centuries-old rock 'steps' to the boat ride through the Falls, Really - THROUGH the waterfalls. You get soaked to the skin, but so does everyone else; even if you're wearing a slicker you'll get wet; even if you're wearing a rainhat - it's phenomenal! The crew gives everyone a life vest to wear, & hands out "waterproof" satchels for you to keep your valuables - and a change of clothes (you'll need them). Note: hold on to those satchels - and your seat - tight! I and the three new friends from Puerto Rico I met that day did the Wave (by the 3rd pass we were a little giddy). After we dried off & changed - my clothes were left with someone who didn't do the boat, so I stayed soaked - we climbed on to the back of a huge pickup truck and rode through the rainforest. We saw this huge Toucan & it was hard to believe those vivid colors were real. The rainforest guides are terrific, funny, and extremely knowledgable. AND, since you don't need a visa for Argentina, none of the aggravating Brazil visa process, up to $150 for U.S. citizens, and, during my processing, it went up $20.
