“Good location, friendly staff but a bit noisy”

Kenton Palace Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Bedford, United Kingdom
Apr 13, 2008

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and found it better than previous trip advisor reviews indicate. It is centrally situated, staff are friendly and bedrooms are spacious and clean, even if the hotel is a bit impersonal. We had no problem with security and there was a perfectly adequate safe box in our room. Walls however are a bit thin and people checked out early making quite a lot of noise.

Good points were the friendliness of the staff who dealt with our queries quickly and forwarded messages to us. Our laundry was collected and returned the same day and the cleaning staff were efficient and pleasant. Breakfast was good and you could request items that were not provided on the buffet from the many staff on duty.

My husband was unwell the last evening we were there. Staff were very helpful and we were able to keep the room until the following evening when we flew out. We had to pay a small supplement for this but if we had only wanted the room until early afternoon we would not have been charged.

The restaurant and bar were not busy when we were there and the only time we used the bar the service was slow. However because the hotel is so central there are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. Before check out rooms were searched by staff - we found this a common occurence in Argentina. Our friends had an unfortunate experience as they had not locked their door or put up the do not disturb sign and a member of staff mistook the room as one to search and came at 06.30 am, quickly realised and left.

“No Air Condition and Restaurant Menu...SUPER LIMITED”

Kenton Palace Hotel

We were in Bariloche in Feb. 2008 and stayed at Kenton Palace.
The staff was very nice and helpful with our luggage (they do not have a ramp). The room was noisy and very hot , they do not have air condition and they advertise they do. We got there sick and we
went to the restaurant and ask for chicken soup. The waitrer was very nice but the chef refuse to cook anything that was not in their limited menu, even though the restaurant was empty. As I read in one of the reviews they still have the same toaster that the waitrer
have to take the toast out with the tongs.

“Don't Stay Here!!!”

Kenton Palace Hotel

The worst hotel experience EVER!! Don't stay here, don't believe any review that is decent. This hotel is awful. The staff is surly and rude. The rooms (we moved from one because it was completely unacceptable) were unbearably hot, cramped and NOISY! Their website makes the hotel look wonderful and the photos are very deceiving. I can not stress enough how terrible this place is. Try Design Suites where we stayed last year, but were unable to book this year because of last minute plans. it is not exceptionally quiet, but a lovely hotel and restaurant, unlike Kenton Palace. Please, please - skip this hotel.

“We had a very good time!”

Kenton Palace Hotel

4 of 5 stars
San Jose
Mar 6, 2008

I was a little concerned because after a booked it I read the reviews but fortunately it was nothing like I read on them.
This is a small hotel with a small and cozy spa. To us, this spa was just what we needed: a quiet place to relax after a long day. It is true that the gym is small but it is proportional to the hotel.
The room was nice and the bed very confortable, maybe the carpet and the curtins need updating but it was very clean on its overall. The bathroom is small and the shower is not entirely covered so there can be a little mess but if one put the clothes on the hooks they will not get wet.
The price is a little high but I think that location is a big part of it because it is only one block away from the civic center and all the shopping stores.
More important, nothing was stolen from us, not a single thing and the staff was very kind and nice to us.
Bottom line: not everything that you read is true!!! We had a very good time in this hotel.

“Don't kid yourself, this is a 2-star hotel”

Kenton Palace Hotel

1 of 5 stars
Port of Spain
Oct 12, 2007

The hotel is not worth the money. We loved Bariloche and the beautiful surrounds, but this hotel really spoiled our trip to Patagonia. While the lobby of the hotel is quite nice and modern, underneath the facade is 2-star hotel. Let me recount the issues….
First off, the window was a horrible view of a dirty and trashy parking lot with bushes that hadn’t been water for years. Vagrants could be seen passing through the mangled fencing.
The rooms and bathrooms were really small.
The exercise room is a joke. It has a total of 3 pieces of equipment. The weight machine was unsafe to use. The running machine is too small and didn’t keep the correct pace and the exercise bike was so loud I couldn’t hear my ipod. Nobody used the equipment except for my unfortunate self.
My wife and I made three phone calls to the US that was under 10min total and it cost us $US 70. There was no toll sheet in the room.
The queen size bed in the room was made up of two twin beds complete with the divot in the middle.
Our Laundry was repeatedly promised by 8am and didn’t arrive until 5min before our taxi was to pick us to leave at 9:25.
The computer room had two computers and only one of the worked so we always were waiting to check our email.
Showers were European style with permanent glass doors that cover only 1/3 of shower and allowing enormous amounts of water out onto the floor.
And finally…We had to sign a form stating that the hotel was not responsible for anything left outside the safe due to many thefts in the hotel. What kind of 4-star hotel makes clients sign a form like that!!!
