“Just Perfect Service and Location”

You will be surprised by a great service, exceptional central location, and clean-cut rooms. And, you must the the lovely gardens and breakfast rooms! If you choose the breakfast service, the 6:30 am start is perfect for all day and half-day trips to the National Park and Glaciars. My room was perfect for two, and had all the basics you need to enjoy the Pueblo and an amazing Patagonia. The rate was a little under $80 usd at the time we did the booking. You can make arrangements to pay with a wire transfer or in cash at arrival. All 3 tours we did -Big Ice/ Cerro Frias/ Todo Glaciares- offered pick-up service at this location (so central that most other travelers preferred to be dropped-off here and not at their hotels). Many other hosterías and hotels are NOT in central Calafate -where you find restaurants/ shops/ supermarkets/ tour agencies. If you are going to explore Patagonia, this location is a perfect place for all ages. Front desk staff and the owners themselves represent well the southern Argentinean hospitality.

This is a nice place to stay. It's in a quiet street, but close to everything. It has a nice garden, cosy rooms with clean bathroom and a seperate communual livingroom with internet access. The breakfast is okay, but we didn't like the sugary croissants. We would recommend this place if you're in El Calafate!

“Fantastic Place to Stay!!!!!!”

My Husband and I stayed at this hostal in late December and we booked on-line. We were not sure what to expect because the information provided on the website isn't too extensive, but when we arrived we were delighted with our choice.
Christian & Mariano ( receptionists) are soooo helpful and friendly. They really made us feel at home right from the word 'go'.

The hostal is so quaint and well kept, making it a pleasure to stay there. It is also very well located, only 2 blocks from the main street.
The hotel booked our trips and arranged everything for us, taking all of the leg-work out of organising. It was fantastic!!
We paid around £48 for a double room, breakfast included. (continental breakfast).

We only stayed for 3 nights, enough time to do a one day trip to PERITO MORENO and another day to do the TODO GLACIERS boat trip excursion.

The Perito Moreno excursion was booked through a company called Mundo Austral by the Hostal, It was a wonderful experience - we had a friendly English speaking guide and the trip included a worthwhile hour long catamaran cruise around Perito Moreno ( a supplementary £8 per person). Definately worth the money!!

The Todo Glaciares excursion: This is a standard excursion to see 3 glaciers, Again a fantastic trip, which costs about £45 per person. Make sure you take a boxed lunch or something to eat because the boat only sells coffee and sweets. ALSO WRAP UP WARM because it will be windy and cold.

Restaurants: We had the best pasta in a little place called " La cocina" located in the main street, really good and cheap.
We also had a very nice pizza in a place called "La Lechuza" also in the main street.

overall, Calafate and the trip are definately worthy of being visited - a tremendous couple of days and highly recommended!

Enjoy

Kau Kaleshen is a great simple hotel for a fantastic price. It was clean and centrally located a block off the main street in El Calafate. The best part of Kau Kaleshen, however, was the staff - very helpful with getting excursions booked and pointing out restaurants. Cristian and Mariano are great. There may be more upscale accommodations in El Calafate, but for a good value, Kau Kaleshen can't be beat.
